| Soooo thumbs down for tomorrow... 52 degrees and pouring today... then major freeze overnight... 25 degrees, lots of ice... when there's good weather - next weekend hopefully - I'll have the car. :( :whip: |

| i'm getting a ride from a friend of a friend hopefully but i wont know until tomorrow morning. i hope i make it out there tomorrow, i'll be disappointed to have a long weekend and not ride, especially week after week how this thread just ends up hyping me up! AHHHHHH why can't we just snowboard to and from where ever we need to go, forget the train, just ride down 11th ave. |

well this weekend wasn't all the great!
saturday sucked! rain and warm didn't go
sunday was expected to be great...left the city at 6am go to camelback around 9am and it was PACKED. it snowed over night so we expected powder, but much to our dismay we get to the ticket window with the following advisories:
Only 3 lifts will be open all day
Top of the mountain will be closed
Frostbite warning
All due to WIND!
but it was sunny with blue skies and they were making tons of snow.
So I guess it's off until next weekend. |

Wow, you've got to be kidding me. When did skiing become a warm weather sport? It's kind of expected to be cold and if you don't prepare, that's your problem. The mountain shouldn't be half closed down for it.

california for one! and who says anything about not being prepared
if you can sit ontop of killington k1 @ -45 trying to strap in with ice being pelted at you, then i guess you can sit on top of any mountain after that right...
I plan on hitting the slopes this weekend, it's a do or die weekend adventure for me...i can't get through a week or work without having some boarding on the wknds! |

I wasn't saying you weren't prepared. I'm saying it's stupid for Camelback to assume that it's too cold and that people weren't prepared for it. Unless it was so bad that the chairs were blowing all over the place. |

dont think they assumed that people weren't prepared, i think precautionary reasons is why they closed the lifts. i took a 2 chair up to the highest point (mid mountain) and it was swinging all over the place. they made everyone put the bars down even though i was in the 2 chair alone....
one of the trails was full of debris but it made it more fun to ride through hopping over twigs and going up the side of the trail on small copings made out of ice.....it's nice to shave ice with your board as long as it's in the form of a coping and not a sheet of ice in mid run....you know that lovely board on ice sound...its great i love it |
