The super8 vs tab track is good too. Hmm that's about it. The rest of the tracks are just boring, slow, and WAY TOO HOUSY to be placed on a legendary TRANCE series. If I want housy and techy tracks, dammit, I can listen to great dj's specializing in that genre -- not Tiesto. |
It's funny, I thought that Helsinke Scorchin' [the Super8 Vs Tab track you are refering to] sounded boring on this mix. It sounds so much better on his live sets.
but to each their own |

yea you're right, tiesto's watered-down housy version of that track blows too. I just meant its good compared to the other plain-crappy housy tracks. |

after a few more (dozen) listens, I think I'm going to reverse my reviews on the CD's. I'm growing tired of CD2 very quickly as it's just too...jumpy. it's hard to explain. There is one really, really good track at the 35 minute mark, I"m just too lazy to look up the track. The first cd is better even though there are too many vocal tracks but its flows better and is nice and mellow. I wish Tiesto would get harder though but ISOS isn't supposed to be hard. So I'd say after a lot of reflection, Cd1 = 6.5/10 and Cd2 5/10.
Definitely the worst ISOS in my opinion. |

i agree. Tiesto apparently has never heard of the cliched-old phrase, "quality over quantity", a phrase repeated to me many times during college when writing papers.
anyways, CD2 definitely sucks. no flow, bad mixing, and the atmospheric mood of the mix jumps too much. CD1 is a tad better but is set back by uneven flowing tracks for the first half of the mix and is scarred by horrible blending and mixing.
if i was getting so many awesome tracks, i would condense them into a single CD of the best of them, and take my time blending and making sure it was good. this sounds like it was done chopped up and served under 2 hours. poor effort all around but some good tracks. |

Just gave it a first listen on my flight back to Maine for Easter...
First impressions:
CD1 - decent flow in the second half, a few too many vocals
CD2 - a little more upbeat - not bad. flow a little up and down tho
I'm not going to give it a score yet... need a few dozen more listens in an atmosphere other than smooshed into a jet, 34000 feet off the ground... |

Picked it up yesterday for $15.
CD1 was interesting to me because I have never heard a cd with so many vocals before. After listening to the first few tracks I realized he was trying to do this whole house/trance thing and for the most part it works but it isnt completely my style. I did like the fact that there wasnt an epic breakdown in each of the tracks and the base kept the music flowing and danceable. My stand out tracks were Leama and Moore - Everything Matters, Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms(Ive heard this song quite a bit and it grew on me so that is probably why i like it now), and the Basic Perspective track that Ive also heard many times. Overall the cd suffers from too many vocals for me and never really sets a pace that a mix cd should. I'll give it more listens though and it'll probably improve. 5/10
CD2 was really the reason I bought this cd. The tracks flow fairly well and the new Intuition sound that has been being played works well with Los Angeles theme. I enjoy this sound but I long for tracks to hit me hard with an acid lead or even a supersaw more often. The piano/uplifting sound is overdone and after some tracks pass through, the cd just becomes lost in the background of what you're doing and nothing really catches your attention or you start to dance and be like, "oh this is tight." I like this cd but it is hard to listen to this and this only. I couldnt help but get up and do other things while this was playing for the first time. I always felt a good cd will keep your attention while you just listen to the music but this cd fails to do that. My stand out tracks: I want to say the Jonas tracks but they dont really stand out even though Im a fan of his. I guess the only one is the Way Out West remix of Dont Forget Me. CD should get better with listening to it and at a louder volume maybe it will be more energitic for me. 6/10
Edit: The two cds have definately gotten better after many repeat listens. My finally score for first cd ends up being 7/10 and second 7/10. |
