Agreed...however electronic music in Europe is much more mainstream and popular than it is here. Rock festivals in Canada can support thousands regularly, but not EDM because people see it as a drug music, as late night club music.

Also, the club scene in Europe is largely fuelled by the fact that in many countries, the liquor laws are far more relaxed. People can drink at any hour that the club is open. While this is still substance consumption, the difference is that these substances are regulated. When I was in Berlin I was drinking beer until 8am and just gettin my dance on and not ONCE, did I think, "oh my beer buzz is wearing off, how am I going to keep going for the rest of the night?"

Obviously this kind of alcohol availability presents other concerns, but as I said, at least the stuff you are consuming is exactly what you think it is.

i think i was rather clear in saying that

i think thats a great idea but what about people who have to work late hours on weekends/ have college commitements etc. Won't they get left out.

so jeff....u suggest we take a nap and come in at 1am. after being up from 5/6am, once u take a nap, theres quite possibly no chance of waking up. but ur special so thats all good

I'm not advocating the use of K, but I don't think misinformation does anyone any good either.

Here's a quote from a Health Canada publication from Feb. 2004. Link to the full publication.

"Ketamine is a non-barbiturate anaesthetic approved for use in both humans and animals."

It's what is known as a controlled substance which means it's illegal for you or I to possess it or traffic it, etc. but it can still be used in a clinical situation by a doctor.

Here's another link - DanceSafe

Again, let me be clear, I'm sure it's bad to snort this stuff, but you're making it sound like it's deadly for humans, which is clearly not the case when used properly....which none of us do, but you get my point. :D

Of course it won't, because major clubs often take a cut of the house dealer's drug sales.

Bro, i never said i was against EDM happening during the day. Infact, the experience I had in MTL at Piknic Elektronik was one of the best i've had (Sunday party, outdoors, in a park starting at noon). My point (if i was trying to make one) is that if you want to see a big headliner in Toronto, suck it up, take a nap before you go out, and expect it to be bright and sunny when you leave. Nightclubs are the ones shelling out the $$$$ to bring these dj's in, so they tell us when the dj plays. This has become 'the norm' in the industry, and I honestly dont see it changing, ever.

So what if it's the norm? That doesn't make it right.

ANYWAY,

OFF -TOPIC!

I'm creating a Poll about this.

Hm, I was under the impression that ketamine use in humans was outlawed decades ago. Seems that in cases where ketamine is used, it is a very small dose, and is combined with a benzo...

I didn't insinutate that K is deadly to humans, but it is seriously detrimental to your neurological health.

But thank you for correcting that.

well in other genres of music, i think we have all forms of the working class as well.

i think that should explain my point itself

there are reasons headliners dont open.No matter how much you guys want this to change it wont.An owner puts the headliner on first and he will have a half empty club when the set is over and make no money.I just cant believe this thread is 10 pages long. The original post in this thread was very well written and intended to help those who can accept hearing these things. The reality is simply that wanting to quit is not enough, you have to be READY to quit.A few very wise words in this thread, but a few people are pushing their opinions around like they are the only meaningful ones.No one likes bible thumpers.

^^^i dont remember anyone mentioning that headliners should open
