and the only reference she made to other people was the 'tony island' , and whats wrong with that? seemed like every TA and their dog were talking about that, and now that the code has been broken, it's bad to bring it up?

i dont get it

*edit*

i was not part of the 'tony island' experience, therefore i retract the above statement.

there have been more posts then nats, some of which have made personal "jabs" at people, well-intended or not. i just don't see how all these well-intended people think that bringing it up on here is a good thing. maybe not everyone knows whose been talked about, but a lot of us have a general idea of whose friends with who

if this is or was about me, i wouldn't want to read about your concerns on a public forum. you know my number. call me. otherwise you are not my friend, and you can go politely yourself

just my two cents, offensive as always

Good post Nat. Of the TAs that I've met there is not one of them who in my opinion isn't a good person and if I thought any of them had a drug problem that I saw was interfering with their everyday lives I would have to say something to them just like I hope they would say something to me. I wouldn't want to loose any of you due to drugs or anything else. We all have to remember that if someone has a problem they probably don't realize it. It may be hard to say something and you may loose a friend but I would rather loose a friend and save a life then loose a friend and loose a life.

Exactly. Not only that, fingers were indirectly pointed at people regarding the issue with G.

I just wanted to point out for those of you that don't know however...everybody who talks about Tony island or makes jokes, comments...whatever about it, does not necessarily partake in using "Tony". It has just become an ongoing joke amongst people (I will admit to being one of those guilty people). And maybe these jokes should not be made anymore because it can produce a bad image of people that may not necessarily be true. Not to mention as people have said before, drugs are not something we should joke about.

When I party, I always party 100% completely sober. Every time. No booze, no drugs, no red bull, no nothing. What I generally do is, the night before a party, I stay up half the night and sleep in a ton. I eat a huge amount of food before I go out, and usually I can make it until 8:00 the next morning or later. It's harder for Friday parties... the nap in the evening is pretty much all I can do.

But yeah... I think partying sober is great. I can dance so much longer and harder than people who are drunk. I'm still surprised by the number of really sketchy people there are out there on TA. Really, I think our crowd is way too accepting of behaviour that's just not cool.

I know there are lots of great people on TA that like to enjoy themselves, but seriously, when I see people ed outta their minds on E or coke or some other substance of the moment, I seriously just lose a ton of respect for them, right there. I know some of you will tell me it's their decision, they can do what they want, they know what they're doing, etc, etc, but honestly, our crowd is way too accepting of this. It takes a lot to earn that respect back. Some of the things that many of you consider to be the norm would be considered crazy by 80%+ of the general human population.

I just don't see a need for this kind of behaviour. There are no long-term benefits at all. If I go to a party and dance my ass off sober, then I have a good time, meet people, and get a good workout. But it doesn't take much to negate all of those benefits.

In my opinion, although the intentions were good, this topic is completely inappropriate. Several people were indirectly mentioned in the original post when they haven't been approached by you. If you think someone has a problem pertaining to their drug use, you should be approaching them directly. This is not a public issue and should not be made one.

ps. I don't see ecstasy being mentioned in the list of horrible drugs that people do.

hence i will not participate in this discussion...too personal of a topic to make it so public (and believe me there are many personal topics going on behind scene, do we make them all public??? because I can really start opening my mouth! i am very disappointed with the birth of this thread not for Nat's concern.

Great post Nat and everyone else who posted in a mature and educated manner. I found it really nice to come home and read a thought provoking thread that wasnt filled with ridiculous bitching.

We should all be glad to have great friends who care about us and our well being. I dont think this taboo subject is discussed nearly or seriously enough on this board. I strongly believe that regardless of wether or not you believe you have a problem, knowing that people are worried about you helps alot of people realize that they are in trouble.

Talking about this is the first step.

e in itself is a cocktail...

one in which the majority of the pills have heroin in them...

there's some food for thought.

I think the moral behind all of this is...if your gonna use'm don't abuse'm. Whatever your poison is, don't swing for the fences everytime you go out and just be aware of what your friends are doing around you and watch each others back. Let's face it, it's not the most 'normal' scene out there, and none of us are angels, if you can't depend on your friends or yourself to be careful, then maybe you should just stay home or stick with red bull.
