But yeah... I think partying sober is great. I can dance so much longer and harder than people who are drunk. I'm still surprised by the number of really sketchy people there are out there on TA. Really, I think our crowd is way too accepting of behaviour that's just not cool.
I know there are lots of great people on TA that like to enjoy themselves, but seriously, when I see people ed outta their minds on E or coke or some other substance of the moment, I seriously just lose a ton of respect for them, right there. I know some of you will tell me it's their decision, they can do what they want, they know what they're doing, etc, etc, but honestly, our crowd is way too accepting of this. It takes a lot to earn that respect back. Some of the things that many of you consider to be the norm would be considered crazy by 80%+ of the general human population.

So you would base your judgement on a person on 1 negative quality that they have? What if 20 years down the line, your kids were to pick up the habit - Would you tell them to of?
People who get ed up on drugs are a little more complicated than just being at parties for the sake of being high. Those who abuse drugs could be using them as an excuse to escape their personal problems such as broken families/relationships , monetary issues, academic problems etc and while the root cause for reaching this stage could be attributed to being emotionally weak, that doesn't mean that society should wash their hands of them. Some of the nicest and most genuine people i have met in college have had issues with substances and in all of them i have seen that it has been personal problems that drove them to that stage. The only problem is that finding the solution is really hard because it differs from person to person. |

| I have no issues with anyone on TA but I'm undecided as to the validity of some of the posts thusfar - actions speak louder than words, if you will. Not to mention the hypocrisy in here is seriously blowing my mind. |

in nat's defense..... it seemed she was worried of those who were taking multiple drugs at a time 'aka cocktails', and over doing it in the process. she never mentioned E as 'a harmless' drug....
and the only reference she made to other people was the 'tony island' , and whats wrong with that? seemed like every TA and their dog were talking about that, and now that the code has been broken, it's bad to bring it up?
i dont get it |
The first sentence was spot on, she implied all drug use that was set up in people using it to extremes. As for this not being a public issue it IS one if we all party together and issues of drug use affect the scene and people's lives (in serious and negative ways, look at Cale's post). Maybe the only way someone can be shown the error of their ways in abusing drugs or anything for that matter(instead of being a moderate user) is by blantantly shoving the idea in their face. It was mentioned earlier in this thread how people who abuse stuff like drugs tend to NOT NOTICE what they are doing to themselves or their friends even, so I see as what Nat posted as a public service to this this board, the people we party with and the entire community at large. She did not specifiy names, she did not pick on certain people about this, she just expressed concern, and from what I can see did it in a way that was ok. Amazing thread Nat, and I agree with Jeff, sticky this bitch.;) |

may 6th - Ultra Spin 10 at the guv
may 13th - C&C at Sonic.
these are two big events coming up really soon!
and It's time to start ACTING!
So how about saying NO to drugs on these two nights. See how much fun we can have being 100% sober. Trust me, with good friends and MUSIC it's not that hard to last till the morning!
Lets just try it, and lets help our friends!
I know, sometimes it's not easy to say NO when everyone around you is doing "this". That's why we should ACT together.
I'm thinking about ordering a bunch of custom-made t-shirts with anti-drugs slogans for all the TA's!

I totally hear ya about the hypocrisy issue and i myself dont have a problem with anyone on TA either.. but there are a few of my friends that used to come out and party and be totally sober and ENJOY themselves.. and now i see that they go just to get totally mangled and i see theyre not having half the fun they used to back in the day... it kinda hurts me to see people like that. and i know too many of them to list. i just hope people smarten up and realize that its time to get serious about life like i have..and trust me at one point i went though that too.. |

I just don't see a need for this kind of behaviour. There are no long-term benefits at all. If I go to a party and dance my ass off sober, then I have a good time, meet people, and get a good workout. But it doesn't take much to negate all of those benefits. |
Drugs are apart of the nightlife scene, if it bothers you that much to see people on drugs you might want to reconsider being in a nightclub...
This thread is full of way too much hypocrasy for me :nervous: |
