One thing i sfor sure, Lynch cant paint if his life depended on it. Amazing at making films but not at painting. like omg my paintings are so deep and meaningfull, i paint with my fingers.

See the difference between Requiem and Irrevisible is that Requiem pulls out your emotions, making you feel from your conscience... Irrevisible uses different sound frequencies and ed up camera work instead...

Requiem is an amzing picture indeed.Just realize that if you can provoke a thought with just pictures and no words you have succeded.Anyone can tell a spoken story...a story through image is much better interpreted with your mind and has more artistic intergrity imo.
Showing you is always better than telling you;)

that taxi cam shot is just blah... such a waste of 35mm....

Yeah, like a said Martin, the 2nd AD on my show last season just came off of Aronofskys set. She (the 2nd AD) was the inbetween for Rachel Weiz and Aronofsky when they were fighting. Then again, I'm sure it's hard to watch your fiance get into a bath naked with Hugh Jackman...

Hugh Jackman is supposidly a real sweety... 100% gentleman...

Either way, when I read the call sheets I got tons of little snippets of info... I can't wait to see it all on screen.

OH GOD KUBRICK

Path of Glory
Dr. Strangelove
2001
Clockwork Orange
Shining
Full Metal Jacket

Ahhhhh... I aspire to be this... ahhhh

Actually... a lot of the I write is directly influenced by Kubrick and his realism. He was honestly one of the best filmmakers of our time.

man i think u just didn't get irreversible. the thing on this film is or u like it or u don't. Gaspar Noe's filmaking reminded me of lynch alot, that camera is just perfect man wtf how can u say its a waste, its sooooooooo well filmd, maybe u dont understand this way of intimate filming. it's very different from hollywood films. u can see from from what noe have been inspired to do this film. it reminds me alot of eyes wide shut's kubrick vision, he films in a way godart use to film and it reminds me to of old italian neo realism. the whole movie is not easy to watch i can admit, its very ditrubing and d up, i like it this way.
and making it start by the end and finish by the begnining is just pure genuis.

italian neo realism...dont get me started.
Just the fact most of it was shot on recycled news reel film and the grainy thick pictures it produces....almost like the difference between vinyl and digital....such dark beautiful imagery.

I just think Irrevisible goes a bit too far at times. Trust me Hakim, I know much more than just the Hollywood style of filmmaking, but I still have a problem with Irrevisible.

Requiem pushes the audience to the limits through great acting, powerful images, and an absolutely stunning score. Irrevisible pushes the audience to the limits through nauseating camera angles, high frequency sounds, and playing out a gruesome rape.

Do you see what I mean?

Hakim: Remember the taxi cab scene... I may just be a prick but that was wayyyyy too much...)

Requiem does use abstract imagery but more in the hollywood style.Another great picture that makes use of this in the same way is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Ravemontreal
My problem with Irreversible is that my girlfriend didn't talk to me for 3 weeks and was looking at me like I was a discusting pig.

Don't feel like bragging too much about being a man after watching that one. lol

No marcus, i was at Digital Dimension. Not working there anymore.
Marcus007
Where you working now? I got a short that needs some digi work, expect a PM from me when the time is right... :P
