you certainly don't respect this country.

go back then.

i am sure the mud hut would be much better.
Just because you dont respect a country doesnt mean you have to leave it.....

Anyhow my mums side of the family came from Italy to Guatemala in 1914 during the war. Nobody served in it. Now a days i have a strong hate for military (maybe mostly becuase of the my countries history). I do have a couple of friends that are in the war and i always hope they are doing well and that they come home asap and in good spirit, but i ing hate the military.

ok i am rambling now.

A good education system that is no available somewhere else (not in the world, just in my country when it relates to getting jobs abroad not internally) and convenience (my parents live here:conf: )

And in this case, maybe respect is not the right word. Dislike because of its military history and current present perhaps would best describe my feelings towards the U.S.

oh, and i'd like to add guats to that previous list. :p

that's the thing about countries vs. governments, lol. I don't agree with the current administration's views on foreign policy but that doesn't mean I'd want to leave the country. I'll just be patient and exercise my vote in the next election and if i believe enough in my views i'd try to make a difference by garnering as much support as i can. unfortunately, i couldn't give a flying .

The point here is to be grateful for your freedom. Freedom that was won for you - yes, YOU PERSONALLY (and me, and them , and all of us), freedom that was paid for with the blood of generations.

Whether you agree or disagree with the politics of these wars in principle, remember that millions of husbands, fathers, sons, sisters, wives and daughters never returned to thier families, so their children could live free from persecution.

That deserves two minutes of silence.

Yes, yes, the answer must be silence - that is what gives meaning to their deaths.

its fine to dislike something about your country, not so fine to have no respect for it if it provides you opportunity that you could not have without it.

I am not a fan of US foreign policy either. You chose to make it your home though, therefore you should not on your own choices (or your parents) because really you on yourself.

About to be... If i ever want to come and visit again, and i have not lived here for more than a year continiously, i lose my green card. Then getting a visa is way too much trouble. I am leaving pretty soon to go back to guatemala and get a job. I know i will come back to visit friends eventually so this is why i am getting it.

dude, our/our parents' choice to move here was based more on education, infrastructure, and domestic laws, all of which were established over centuries, vs. the current wars in the middle east. how the can you compare the two?

[broken record]oh because those wars protect the eductiona, infra, domestic[/broken record]

don't buy it.

lol, whenever the US is attacked on their soil, THAT's when they go ape (Pearl Harbour, 9/11). Otherwise Vietnam and Korea were just bull blood baths.
