if anything they played one or two progressive-trance tracks.. and if you know what progressivetrance was you'd know there arent any cheesy synthlines etc to it.. they played prog |

i hate to say it, but this moron may be right.
hell, svd got booked for some event in germany and all he played was techy electro house b/c of the event.
for all we know, g&d plays fanny trance elsewhere. |
Your right about how they adapt their style to different venues/events, but nevertheless it might be a little more progressive instead of more housey beats but they don't play trance anymore, they might throw in a couple of progressive trance tracks for the hell of it, but that doesn't label them as "trance djs"
They have changed their style to the trend of what EDM is going through, like alot of djs do |

This is not my point. 84 Avenue or the other moron from Toronto are arguying G&D doesn't play trance anymore. This is absolutely false. |

ok so because they played 1 or 2 progressive tracks that makes them TRANCE DJS.....which you said they are
Carl Cox finished his set at Stereo earlier this month with Rex Munidi - Perspective...a trance song, so that makes him a trance dj?
G&D just finished mixing Toolroom Knights, a house comp. |

Oka guys I feel guilty for starting this crap. So I will correct my self.
What I meant to say is that people in Montreal prefer house, so they know more about house music...
No one in Toronto really bitches when trance dj's are booked and headlining parties. Whenever a trance dj headlines a party in Montreal its always the same "of tabarnack who is in the house room trance sucks"
I guarantee you there will be tons of people coming to BEB 14 from Toronto mainly because of the trance room lineup, and correct me if I am wrong but I highly doubt many MTL people would go to Toronto for that lineup.
So yeah majority of club goers in MTL are trance illiterate (i am not saying they don't know what trance is, but they are not exposed to it as much a people in Toronto) in a way since most spots play house n tribal.
Lets be serious the only time you can hear trance in MTL is at a massive and the odd night at stereo.

Toronto doesn't have many trance nights either... Tons of house djs, rarely any trance, except on Guv massive events |

See that's where you're wrong. People don't go to club to get educated about trance (or any other genre of music for that matter). The big majority of the people, probably the same proportion in Montreal and Toronto, are only there to be there and to have fun. The "educated" people are the ones who, just like us, lurk on the boards and actually search for the latest tunes and latest dj's. What you don't seem to understand is that, there are more "educated" people in Toronto because there is more people in the city compared to Montreal. With a bigger city and "more" people who know about those dj's it's easier for people to book the smaller dj's 'cause there is a bigger chance that enough people will know about it to break even.
The thing that you tranceaddict don't understand is that we HOUSE heads would want to have big names and up and coming dj's in big events because there's a different vibe. When have we seen something new in house in a big party ? It's always the same, Lawler, sleep dish, calderone, grondin, vibe, chus and ceballos. Don't get me wrong they're good, but it's nothing new and exciting. That is why house headz bitch abou trance dj's headlining partys |
