If you put offer nissim instead of grondin or rauhofer, unless you know really well your music, 97% of the people wont see the difference
Rauhofer plays really good stuff in a massive, but hes boring as fcuk and nissim brings on a good show
Clubs dont book the headliners you want... afterhours do but you guys always have to say something about it... and now you think bal en blanc will book em to make you happy ?

And if Guetta gets around 2000 people paying pre-sales and Nissim almost the same
4000 people that are willing to pay for 2 djs.. that makes bal en blanc's life MUCH easier
The crowd is getting older... the sound is getting more commercial they go with the massive appeal... or they go down like black and blue
Sorry to say it... but these guys are buisness people...
Barmaids, doormen, clubbers etc ... all of them right now know nothing about your super djs...
Montreal is going nowehere musically in bookings... and they need to bring people back to partymode
Aria used to have 1200 to 1500 people inside while sona was jammed, red lite the same and mp3 also... adding up the little uderground parties and all... you had maybe 5 to 6000 people going afterhours per night at the same time... everynight... 2 nighs a week... everyweekend for years and years
Now everyone stuggles to bring people in and they dont get a third of what they used to have
People are getting older and they choose more wisely where and when they go out
So you know what ...
Add bob sinclar to the bill... and they are able to put up adds on the radio and make this party look like its not a k-hole and get better media coverage and sponsors to make it more afordable and try to make you happy again in the next few years
Itll be like that for 2 or 3 years... and they will book more underground stuff again

i like what you wrote. you're right. forget "discovering" very talented underground DJs at big massives for now in mtl.
i think offer nissim has been to mtl at least 4 times in the past year or so (twice at parking, once at BEB 13 and now BEB 14, and he was supposed to come for pride but never made it). and the guy doesnt even mix! and what about armin (sensation and BEB 13 & 14)?
its just unfortunate that we have to rely on BEB for massive events (BEB, Sensation, Resolution). cause who is really competing with BEB and TrackLive in terms of producing big events? BBCM? not really. besides black'n'blue and/or unless you're a gay men, they dont really offer an alternative for the masses.
so not only is BEB making the big bucks by being the only big producers, they make sure to make the extra profit by booking commercial DJs over commercial DJs... to me it's almost like laughing in our faces, the real EDM fans.
(by the way, i wonder how much they have to overpay these commercial DJs when they could probably get an equivalent if not better set from a less popular DJ... see this is the question that makes me wonder if BEB is really into this for the love of music or for the love of the business).
oh well, i guess im just gonna sit out another year until hopefully they turn these big parties around to the "fanciulli days"! |

Maybe you should ask yourself what makes Armin #1? Its as if once some dj is getting popular you guys dont like him anymore just for the fact that he's popular. Lmao.

Bal en Blanc doesnt need Armin to sell out. But still they book him and they pay him big, you should question yourself about why they do that maybe. Its not because about a 100 of people posting day after day on these forum are not happy with that booking that a lot of other people arent. |

you're right it doesnt make sense what i said. it was making a lot of sense in my head at 3am last night lol. my point is that like you said, BEB doesnt need big names to sell out, so why dont they change their line up a bit year after year? so i ask myself "why the lack of originality in booking"? i dont think armin is a bad DJ. but there are other DJs than him in the trance world. and why do I think they book him? they book him cause ya cause he's good but also because he's commercial aka he's gonna sell tickets to a majority of people who dont know anything about his music but assume it's gonna be good because he's been #1 in the past years! i think its just laughing at us to book the same DJs 3 times within 12 months(and its not only armin) as if we dont know anyone else and we dont deserve variety...
people will always complain... lol |

First of all in my books "Commercial Dj" is someone pleasing the masses in general, but I always thought that for "house" music commercial would be stuff like David Guetta and Remixes of RnB @ higher bmp, lots of vocals, the stuff they play in regular clubs in Canada for house. However I never heard Armin trance in any club in Canada unless hes been booked, how is that commercial then... I just don't see it. I have seen Tiestos stuff being dropped in clubs at times "traffic" I heard myself in Ottawa in an RnB club lol. But never did I hear Armin trance live anywhere but @ the massives or when hes booked in an edm club or an afterhours, which again doesn't happen often.
That was quite a rant but my point is I think armin does it pretty well for the other side of the globe to be considered a stepstone for trance and to be booked into the BEB trance room until he completely sells out, I have seen Armin twice in my life and I have been satisfied by it sober or not, in my ears its just great music uniting music and it creates a lot of energy at times.
