IMO he looks exactly what I pictured him to be.

Bedroom producing dork...

but hey, I'm one too (minus the producing).

I'm not aware of very many producers who are hip and cool.

People who are hip and cool don't produce. Well, if they do, they make pop.

Most of these guys are pretty introverted. That's not to say their anti-social or anything, but yeah, I think their music is an expression of their extraverted side.

But yeah, I'm on TA. Basically whenever people can't think of a logical arguement to denounce someone they resort to "your not cool. your a dork." The pathetic thing is we're all on a web-based forum discussing music that isn't exactly the most notorius or "cool" form of music in clubs (for those of you who probably haven't ever stepped in a club). Everytime I go out here, I usually have to put up with commercial elecro house and RnB . There's no trance.

I still love Deadmau5 and even his Finished Symphony remix. And he's living the dream. I mean look at him. He's this tiny skinny little guy, then he makes some AMAZING tracks, and now he gets to sign his name on boobs. Good for him.

My point was already stated.

I'm not saying looks/attitude/social life have any affect on my opinion of music. He just looks what I pictured him to be.

What don't you understand?

Edit: And please dont compare either of the James to deadmau5...no where near the same boat.

I wouldn't say majority of the producers are introverted. A lot seem to be really out going, down to earth people. Party kids just like the rest of us.

And as for the EDM not being "cool"...well that's heavily based on your group of friends I suppose. IMO EDM is widely accepted in the world...just some countries/areas seem to haven't caught on yet.

they don't even have the same styles. of course they're not in the same boat, but who's had the most effect on the EDM scene as a whole in so little time out of all three? uh oh...:eyes:

:haha:

You make it seem as if deadmau5 has made some huge groundbreaking impact. So he's made a few tunes that appeal to the masses, I suppose DJ Sammy is a legend in your book to eh?

James Holden's discography is far more impressive. Sure his career is a longer stretch then deadmau5, but he's been quality the entire way (some may beg to differ with his recent works). Much more diversity, and imo he pioneered new sounds.

Test of time will tell...I doubt deadmau5 will get much talk (positive) in a few years.

Holy ...did somebody just compare Deadmaus to James Holden?

FFS...Please off. Now I know why I never come here. Cause of moronic statements like that.

+1

deadmau5
well, i find it all funy as hell... i mean , from my POV anyway.

seriously, imagine if you will... youre 18 years old, making music on a PC at home driving family members insane, not having a dollar to your name, and just being an all around hack.

then you move out at 21 to a metropolis of sorts to try the whole "life" thing... which doesnt pan out so great.... then by some miracle a few years later... youre seeing thousands of posts, threads, emails, messages on this you do. It really blows my mind how popularity (both positive and negative) works.

on one hand, you have the people who would verbally slay you for actually doing what you love to do, and in the other you get some praise here n there... but at the end of the day, you keep doing it anyway, totally and completely detached from comparisons, criticism, praise, and the like.

I think one of the downsides to being "successful", and i use the term lightly here because i only feel that i've got years and years ahead of me to finely tune my craft... downside is simply that the masses in general fail to forget that youre just another person doing his thing.

i dont think any differently then someone who works in the insurance business, dental arts, the visual arts, construction, engineering...

for example, you would have to be an idiot to think that there no people in those sectors who arent passionate in respects to their feild... people dont become engineers because they "hate it, but the moneys good" ... or work with animals, etc etc...

problem with the music / entertainment sector is (as far as i can see) the only one in existence that is subject to such ludicrous scrutiny and critcism... but with that in hand, thats justg because theres no wrong way to do it.

theres defo a wrong way to build a bridge or treat a patient... so on hindsight, maybe the problem stated above isnt so much a problem, but somethign you just have to take in stride...

the music *business* and the art of *producing music*, are two seperate things... and both to me are a bit of a roller coaster. and roller coasters are in fun.

so in closing... im having fun. and im doing what i love, but addmittedly, you cant help but laugh when people take the pure "fun" and turn it into comparisons, ratings, and popularity contests. And even with all this said, im just subjecting myself more to some form of public view or another im sure... so bring it on i suppose! i geuss its a good way to develop some kind of mental disorder.... at least when i think of myself as Joel Zimmerman... that kid from niagara falls, or this "deadmau5" phenom / disaster.
