lol yes i understand that :) i wasn't saying it as if joel is teh omfg best producer in the world and they gave the parts to him on a padded plate of gold. i'm sure they would have expected an extraordinary remix coming from me if they asked me to do it as well. |

Unless your among those who resent the idea of remixing a classic in the first place, in which case any attempt- good or bad- is tantamount to unnecessary tampering.
That said, I don't think any other remixer would be receiving the same type reaction as Deadmau5 is getting (is it really necessary to refer to him as Joel)?
Since he's already received plenty of flack for his more or less applying the same blueprint each time around, I'm sure the same people become especially upset when they see it pop up in Finished Symphony. |

i hate referring to producers as their "handle" once i figure out their real names. that's why i prefer they use their own names. i have a "handle" because my real name is too fookin' nerdy, but i prefer people call me that than my handle (once they figure it out). |

We had a similar conversation on a separate thread, and I'm not saying that producers/DJ's reside on a special level by which you need to know them before you can use their first name, but there is just something overly deliberate and unwarranted about referring to them in the first name (not accusing you or anyone else of anything, it's simply the impression I receive).
Maybe it's because he's extensively promoted himself on low-key discussion forums, but Deadmau5 seems to get more first person referrals than any other major producer I've seen. |
