it's Tom Crui5e'5 job to make me not look like an a55?
make 5en5e, I dare you.
I merely pointed out that Deadmau5 doe5n't make minimal or techno, or minimal techno (de5pite hi5 claim5), and did a pretty 5hit remix of hybrid - fini5hed 5ymphony.
what an a55 |

I'll take the distinct lack of reply as that you've had an epiphany, that you don't in fact make minimal techno or either of each combined. |
Or because he left for FW? :conf: |

I think Az and the mau5 need to settle the score with an all out knock down drag em out of epic proportions!
And by this, I of course mean, you need to remix Viggo Mortensen "songs" (Ya, the guy from Lord of The rings, he sings too, about mail boxes mostly).
The winner will ultimately be decided by which remix gets more than one listener to listen the full way through.
Vocals are a must, otherwise it just be cheatin' |

Kinda hard when they put it in compilations. But I usually skip it if it makes you feel any better. |

It's borrring IMO. I don't think its like THAT terrible or anything, but there are better deadmua5 tracks and this mix does not hold a candle to the legendary original mix.
I think the reason its selling well is because people see 'deadmau5' and 'finished symphony' in the same sentence and two well known names like that will force people to take notice. Then, because expectations are so high, they will be bitterly disappointed, or at least I was. |

I've not jumped on the "bandwagon" of bashing Deadmau5. I included Apply Overnight in the last mix I uploaded (back in December of 06) and spun Faxing Berlin a couple of times months before everyone began to whore it (and I'd really credit that whoring to Zabiela & Fanciulli. If they hadn't spun it, I don't think it would've been big). Outside of that, even back then I wasn't a big fan of the rest of his productions. It's not to say that they suck, they're just not my cup of tea (just as much as they aren't Minimal and Techno).
I did, however, find this remix to be terrible. Now let me tackle something here...

lol.... i love it.
hybrid comes up and asks you to remix a track, and instead of saying "no, you." you do it anyway....
then it hits the charts, sells a good number, and people complain that it's .
tell you what... if it's .... stop buying it. |
Who says we bought it? What, sales on Beatport? DJDownload? Audiojelly? Those sales don't account for the entire population of listeners. Those count mostly for DJs and a small amount of fans. We live in an age where people typically download something and preview it before they buy it, or hear it in a DJ set first. Taking sales on such websites as an accurate representation of who actually likes the music is an absurd concept. I'm not going to praise a track just because it's "high in the charts." Charts don't form my opinion for me.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting this, or perhaps you just worded it wrong. Do you really think that the only way for people to hear your music is to buy the single? What the happened to DJ sets, to radio airplay? I mean I thought that DJ sets were the whole point of the websites whose sales you seem to speak so highly of. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe DJ sets really don't exist anymore, and whatever I hear out at a club nowadays is just some guy pressing "random" on a Beatport player and letting it play through the clubs audio system.

You really need to learn how to accept criticism. Just because we don't like it doesn't mean that you need to get your panties all tightly-wound. You're an artist. There is no single artist on the face of this earth that has ever been loved by everyone. Hell, I know a couple of people who hate The Beatles. The internet happens to be a more vocal place for criticism than anything. Just because twenty or thirty people post in a thread that they don't like a song you've done (yes, most of these people heard it without purchasing it), doesn't mean that everybody hates it.
Yeesh.

Really, with all of your talk about sales, charts and "doing the remix anyway when you could've told Hybrid to off", you come off as someone who's in it more for the money than actually being an artist. If I'm wrong, then I apologize. The wording in your post just kind of gives me that feeling. |

meh. it is what it is.
im not opposed to criticism, just criticism that isn't that well constructed.
on hindsight, im a bit of a hypocrite anyway... to put it in perspective, i remeber sitting in the doctors office the other week waiting for the friggen guy to finish with 6 or so other patients in front of me.. and i mumbled "this sucks" to my friend who was with me. i probably should have elaborated, as it wasn't very constructive. And theres no wifi in that place so i couldnt go out of my way to make a post about it for my own personal satisfaction to know that hey, at least i put my opinion out there.
but this is all next level stuff here with the whole questioning my ethics with the whole art vs. sales thing, which i probably should have omitted because once again, because lord knows i cant literate a thought properly to save my life... hindsight is a bit of a bitch more often than not :)
i need to buy some blinds... these curtain things suck for mornings. |

| Just don't go Dave Dresden on us. Personally I think you've made a few good songs. Not everyone is going to like everything, but obviously some people like this. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean anything. And of course you're going to catch a lot of flak remixing a legendary song like this. |
