for what they got him for it doesn't matter. Marlins got rid of a burdensome salary. and detroit got a solid #4 or #5 inning eater (7+ almost every time). the problem with tigers was always a lackluster end of the rotation, and even if dontrelle is unbearably average he'll at least be able to handle more innings than anyone they had last year in those spots - in turn keeping the bullpen fresh.

didn't they get another good relief pitcher too?

Considering the marlins trade history, they got an excellent front office, so I expect it to be more than the pupu platter.

well... being in the same division as the metsies, i'm crossing my fingers that they got a pupu platter heh

Getting Santana definitely helps the Mets: Front line starter that will put less pressure on the rest of the rotation and the bullpen.

Unfortuntately, the Mets still need to work on the bullpen to make it at least decent.

As it is every year, the Mets bullpen is being VASTLY underrated. Wagner, Heilman, Feliciano, Wise, Sanchez, Sosa. Doesn't look bad to me.

the best pitcher in the game is finally a Met.

TAKE THAT YOU YANKEE SUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

therefore the Mets are #2 in the MLB behind the Red Sox.

will order my Mets-Santana-Jersey asap.

Except Josh Beckett is the best pitcher in the game... Santana is extraordinary... but you take Beckett 8 out of 10 times over Santana.... unless you only care about stats....

Again, I said, "unless you only care about stats"

not saying, Beckett has the best stats, cause he obviously DOES NOT!

but he's 27, has two WS Championships.... hmmm... Santana will be 29, and with the Mets, that is.............ZERO and none anytime soon...

and for the record, Tigers had the best deal in the offseason, Miggie was a steal!!!

Baseball isn't like football, man. He has 2 WS rings, but it's not like he did it all himself. A WS ring does not make you great. Sure, he's great in the playoffs. Amazing, actually. But he's not Johan Santana.

You're basically saying that Beckett is better than Pedro Martinez because Pedro only won 1 World Series.

tigers just extended granderson to a 5 year deal.

BoSox pick up Sean Casey... not sure how useful he is anymore, at one time a great contact hitter.

no, Pedro > Beckett > Santana

thx for playin!

Santana was a great acquisiton, but who the else in the Mets' bullpen is going to carry the load? Pedro? El Duque?

Come on now people...getting Santana merely makes the chances of the Mets winning 85 games higher. It does not guarantee them a playoff spot and certainly NOT a World Series. Get real!
