Come on now people...getting Santana merely makes the chances of the Mets winning 85 games higher. It does not guarantee them a playoff spot and certainly NOT a World Series. Get real! |
Santana
Pedro
Perez
Maine
El Duque or Pelfrey
best rotation in the NL and of course the best line-up in the NL. |

So... the Mets win 88 games and miss the playoffs by 1 game last year. They add Santana and Pedro for 2008 while not getting worse at any other position and you are questioning whether they're going to win 85 games this year?
I bet you think the Yankees are going to be amazing though, right? |

depends on how the young arms perform. You have to admit that Chamberlain, Hughes and Kennedy look very promising! Wang is solid, Pettitte even more so but Mussina...well, I personally think he's just about finished and will probably lose his spot in the rotation and/or get injured. The bullpen is still thin but the offence is as overpowering as ever. So basically, yeah I think the Yankees will do pretty well and at least challenge for the division or wild card.
Both Pedro and El Duque were great pitchers and if they pitch well, the Mets will be in the thick of things. If they go down, and the chances of them doing so are high, then the Mets will be in trouble.
Of course, it's all just fun speculation at this point.;) |

Reyes has the physical abilities, but the kid either lacks heart or the brain. Something about him just doesn't seem "wright" |

Except Josh Beckett is the best pitcher in the game... Santana is extraordinary... but you take Beckett 8 out of 10 times over Santana |

i'll agree on best NL rotation. however, the best line-up in the NL east goes to our neighbors about 90 miles south in philly.
