hot, single, and intelligent is possible..... but theres always the possibility they could be crazy/bitchy/demanding/materialistic/bossy/self-centered etc.!
still a lot of things you gotta consider! |
the general rule on girls is:
"Attractive, single, mentally stable. Choose two."

Nobody's going to dislike you, they'll just think of you as the dude who skimped on a ring for his life partner. :P |
Haha, it's so like you to twist it like that. Oh, it's not for me, it's for YOU, you don't want everybody to think you're a cheapskate do you!?
It's like a Benz. It has no practical incremental value over the much cheaper alternatives, it's just ritzier and more expensive. When you go past a reasonable amount of thrift and propose with a band-aid painted gold, yes, you will look like a cheapskate, but there's a point of diminishing returns, after which spending more money only makes you look like a profligate trying to prove to everybody how rich you are. Meanwhile, people with actual financial sense recognize the guy who bought the 300 carat diamond as a sucker who's always in debt.
3 months' salary, what a joke. And you know they're not talking about net income either. Considering that 35% of my salary already gets taken away by the government and another 40% or so is paying the mortgage and living expenses, I basically have to work for a year in order to get a "good enough" ring. Yeah, that's a way better idea than putting it into my RRSP, getting an immediate tax rebate, and being able to retire three years earlier.
That 3 month figure comes from one place and only one place: the jewelers. Nobody in their right mind could truly believe that spending less money on something entirely cosmetic would make you a cheapskate. If there's any ego involved here, it's the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses kind, and we all know where that leads.
I know you can't put a price tag on love, but that's exactly what people are doing when they tell me how much money to spend on a ring. If we're going to monetize it anyway, then I need to point out that it's a depreciating asset and just doesn't make financial sense. |

You aren't really putting a price on love. It is a way to show that you love the girl. I am not justifying spending $100 as opposed to $1m better or worse. Neither has really any benefits. |

^ Lol, sometimes you just don't know when to stop hammering the point home.
And why does everything you do have to make financial sense anyway? As a ty example, going to clubs doesn't exactly make financial sense, but that's hardly the point of going. |

Fine, you want to take quotes out of context and respond with one-liners, I'll respond in kind:
Bull. Money does not prove love. |
