| i had always heard that the rule of thumb was ur supposed to spend 2 months pay of a mans yearly salary....i didnt read thru all the posts in this thread so if this was mentioned already my bad. |

diginut you take things way too seriously, 3 months is a rule of thumb, no one is forced to abide by it.
Usually, 3 months means, that if you're a doctor, then you should be giving a ring bigger than what your run of the mill IT guy would give :p;)
It would be insane for a doctor to put around 100k on a ring.:eyespop: |

Well, most of us were agreeing that there should not be a defined amount you should spend. |

| btw, people saying to put money on the bands instead, geez how much do bands cost anyways? 500$ to a 1000$ each? A bit more if in platinum. If you're paying more, you're getting ripped off:stongue: Our bands were retailing 500$ each, cost was 80$. Pays to have a dad working in jewelery:o :p |

For whatever reason, in the states, wedding band and wedding ring are used interchangeably in different circles. And yeah, it helps having connections to the jewelery industry. I have a friend I am going to go to, so that I don't get raped. |

When we get engaged, we get the wedding bands/rings right away and put them on the right hand, at the wedding we put the band ont the left hand, thats our customs. |
