Why thank you....I take that as a compliment as it puts me up there with all the other great people who have demanded rings from their significant others.

You should definetely put effort into buying a ring...It can't be a piece of , but it doesn't need to be top of the line...I still think that it's the thought that counts, but you need to make sure that it's still nice..I also think that if the guy really cares for the girl he would make sure to choose a ring that she would like and that shows that he wants to make her happy..
Personally, for me, I would like a nice diamond, but if he can't afford to buy me the best, I am not goint to be too upset about it, and I wouln'd expect him to spend all of his money on it and then be broke. |

MY TAKE ON ALL OF THIS...
I just got married...and we did everything ass backwards...we picked our wedding date, our wedding location (cuba)...and all the parties when we got back, before we officially got engaged. Although it;s lovely to have a beautiful ring...it's all about the commitment we were making to each other.
My ring came very late in the game, although i knew it was in the works, i didn't care much.
He proposed in holland and flew us to ibiza for a surprise.... (i said yes, with no ring, and before i knew anything about ibiza...for those who are critics ;)
When my ring did finally come...it wasn't a diamond, but instead a saffire (we're both september babies)....which made it even mroe special. he had put so much thought and effort into it, and i loved it!! It's different, and unique, and special.... to be honest, i really hope it didn't cost more than a few thousand....
i knew for a long time he was saving for it....(we were saving for it, as we share money)....but i was very specific about it NOT costing a fortune..
I know a rock is beautiful, and for many women it'd be nice to have a big ring...but sometimes it's not about the quality, size or price of it....but the thought, the love, and the effort behind it.
i also very much believe that if the woman wants to propose...go ahead..it's very common nowadays for the man to wear an engagement ring.
Basically to each is own... and i agree with rabbitj....try and find the balance in between both... |

RESPECT Shay!
Seriously... i love the "story" of you two and how you guys got engaged and all the details about the way things were done. Seriously, for me, that's doing it right and is special and honestly I just love knowing how great you guys are together. Gives the rest of us hope out there one day for the same. :) <3
Love your attitude Shay, its special and very nice to hear for a change. (And who doesnt love, Kal-el! LOL! What a great guy! :D)

still a ridiculous custom. why does, in this day and age, the man have to buy the ring, and following in that, why does HE have to propose? This is an antiquated tradition that no longer fit into our society. |
Agreed. Equality.
