Slick interface... big screen.... and that's about all the plus points for the phone imo.
Big screen, crap resolution.
Loads of apps, most of which are pointless self-masturbatory things that just 'show off' the acellerometer and such, serving no functional purpose.
If I had to pick a phone of similar dimensions, Touch HD every time.
The iPhone is great for the average punter though, which is why it is successful (along with the Apple brand). |
Okay, who seriously uses any of the functions they get in any phone?
Hardly anyone. Many apps may be pointless, but then there will be even bloody more on an open source phone too. And Windows mobile? Jesus, that's a joke in it self.
And the resolution is far from . The screen on the touch HD is turd also.
Finally that G2 looks revolting. |

Depends on the user, innit?
I have a dedicated digital camera, so fancy cameras in phones don't matter to me in the slightest, but other users will have a good camera as a priority.
My X1 gives me the full qwerty keyboard I have become accustomed 2 over the past 3 years (I text and use msn on my phone alot).
The screen size and res, 3" and 800x480, means watching videos on my way home from work is brilliant quality, but with my phone not being as wide as the iPhone or Touch HD, which to me is more important.

iPhone: 3.5" screen 480x320
Touch HD: 3.8" screen 800x480
Hell, the Diamond and Touch Pro can manage 640x480 on 2.8" screens even. |

Okay, point taken. However, aside from allowing text or images too small to be of practical worth, what's the point of having an image resolution that high for the screen size? As you mentioned none of these are really imaging devices, those who want a good camera on the phone really won't even notice really. And those who are in the know will almost certainly follow your suit and use a dedicated devices. So let's be honest the merit of that extra resolution is slim to none. The phone looks great as it is, and the display isn't exactly grainy. |

The iPhone screen has resolution. EVERYTHING is grainy and pixelated. People want CLEAR video/images, not pixelated. For the price that they originally charged, they could have easily had a much better screen. Digital cameras have nicer screens at 2 inches and they are cheaper and smaller! |

It's only fine until you experience better.
I thought the 320x240 2.8" on my MDA Compact was the bollocks when I got it, and looking at it now it's awful.
