You would think a girl that looks like that would think highly of herself. It is cool she is humble like that though.

Its not feigned... I enjoy interacting with people, I love performing, but when it comes down to me as a single person I don't think I'm overly special, and it just weirds me out when people go 'omg!' over me.

I was just using my friend as an example. The point is, you are what you are. Someone paying or not paying you a compliment doesn't change that, and it doesn't have to mean anything to you.

It almost seems like you're afraid that people will think you're egotistical if you just say "thank you" and move on.

I don't understand this about people. You're not the only person that does it. People are afraid of being confident and comfortable with themselves, lol. So ing retarded.

also accepting admiration can be useful to use people who have less confidence for things.

What any of that had to do with me, I'm not sure, lol. I don't think I'm anything special either, but you don't hear me going on about it. Cause I don't ing give a . Looks are fleeting; the only thing that matters is my sparkling wit and stunning charm. :o

I'll be honest, I kind of am. I guess it just goes back to when I was younger and if I would accept a compliment people would start laughing at me, or the person who said it was sent by the popular kids as a joke.

During my constant party/coke whore days I had an outrageous ego. I lived with three drag queens, I was pulling down a lot of money from my dealing on top of my other job and always dressed in the best. People would stop and stare, compliments coming constantly. Anytime I got a compliment I'd just sigh, give a small smile and say "I know...", but no one ever seemed offended by it, if anything they acted more impressed and wanted to be seen with me during the night.

Once I stopped all the partying, I was really disgusted by my actions and took a serious reality check. Like I said, I'll say thanks if I get a compliment, but when people go on and on and make staggering claims like "hottest girl on TA" it just makes me uncomfortable.

Shame is the only thing that people should hate about themselves.

Haha I know! Danes also have this awful habit of downplaying any compliment. We call it Janteloven: Basically, from birth we're told "Don't think you're better than anyone else." We all do it; you compliment someone on their AMAZING guitar skills, and they'll tell you they're not really very good. Someone is naturally amazing at math and they'll say they're not that good, they just study hard.

Its very rude to say "Hell yeah, I'm the !"
