How did you get to be 27? I thought you and I were the same age. lol

They changed it as of late.
Before it was 14 was the age of consent, 14 and 90 didnt matter. Now its 12 within 2 years of age difference (if I am not mistaken) and now its 16+ with any older age.
Age of consent in the US is pretty much 16 with a 60 month difference. Some states have a 16 hard limit.
In Canada if you are a male homosexual the age of consent is 18. Female homosexuals its the same age as anyone else. Dirty Canaadians. |
Oh that's discrimination, isn't it? So you can do a girl if she's 14 but you can't do a guy til he's 18? |

Because if it's biologically TRUE that someone 18 or younger doesn't have all of their brain developed, then yes it does mean that they aren't as "mature" as someone older than them. |
And how does that translate into observable behaviour? Here, let me make a quick analogy:
Let's say a 16 year old can't reason as well as an 18 year old because her brain isn't fully developed. Now, instead of relationships and whatnot, let's talk about mathematics, for clarity sake. Is is justified to say that the 18 year old is necessarily a better mathematician than the 16 year old? Now, back to the whole maturity thing, can you say that the 18 year old is necessarily going to display a more mature behaviour (whatever that is) than the 16 year old? Just as the 16 year old may be more passionate and diligent student of maths, whereas the 18 year old is just a slacker (thus turning the odds against the 18 year old), the 16 year old in question may be more concerned about others, while the 18 year old could just have fully developed brain and no interest on this issue. Is it correct in any way to say that the 18 year old is more mature than the 16 year old simply because of biological differences? Unless you're talking strictly about biology, age is no sufficient condition here.
By the way, how is that difference relevant among the legal girls we're talking about? They're pretty much all over 18 anyway :conf: |

well i need to specify when the story i'm about to tell takes place so people don't think it just happened last weekend lol not that it would really matter i guess other than the fact that everyone would still think i'm a raging cokehead and i don't like to be misunderstood even though i am horribly on these forums. wow that was a great runon sentence.
anyway, how was your day? was it filled with cutting your arms while listening to manson music? |
Oh, I'm the cutter, but you're the one playing the misunderstood card here? |

So you guys don't think you can measure maturity by looking at one's ability to use higher skills of reasoning and judgment, problem solving, etc.? |
Well, if maturity means anything (aside from actual physical development), then that's what I would want to say it means. The problem is that those traits are so rare across all age brackets that it's difficult to imagine that they are something people "develop" as they "mature." Rather than being part of some normal developmental arc, those traits seem to be anomalies created by unusual combinations of aptitude and experience. |
