1) no offense, fastmp3, but it isnt very intelligent at all to post something about killing geroge bush on the net, even if it was a joke.

2) you guys are making every american sound like an arrogant, uneducated, immature loser. ok some are, including myself maybe. but everything we do, we try to help the world in some way or another. and omg yes, we do screw up. however, we do provide food and blankets and things like that to nations in need, and that doesnt get noticed. instead, nations just pounce at our mistakes.

i COULD talk about how canada has loosey goosey border controls, but i cant do that, since my parents went to school in canada and swamper is canadian. not to mention it is a noble effort by canada, trying to provide refuge at a time when its a nightmare to get into the US.

*sigh* where are the mods when we really need them

well, again, excuse anything stupid i have posted....im not usually used to being flamed, so dont u guys :)

hmmm where do i start, i lost my place since there was so much flaming hehe.

the us military tries VERY hard to prevent civilian deaths. i mean, i know that they aborted missions because they might kill a few innocents. also, the military is smart enough to not kill civilians not only because they are humans, but if anything, they try to prevent killing in order to get public support. our bombs hit within 6 inches of a target like 95% of the time, which means about 5% miss the mark only. civilian death is a consequence of war, i dont see how anyone can dispute THAT, but i think that the U.S. is executing theire minimalization (i guess heh) plan very well. not meaning to flame, but have u ever gotten a 100% on an AP/SAT/IB/whatever big standards test at school? well, all im saying is that very few things can be perfect in this world (armin proved that with sunburn :))

in addition, when we actually do kill civilans, we apologize and investigate like hell. personally, i think itd be AWESOME if some politican got kicked in the shins for every home destoryed and in the balls for every innocent person, 2x for a woman/child. seriously! and an apology. in sharp contrast, look at hamas and islam gihad (sp?). they dont get sterilzed by an extreme kick in the pants. they are basked in roses/money and they are more famous than carson daly over here in the states. that is what the US is fighting against...people (monsters, whatever term u like) who dont care about innocent lives. in case you are wondering, i do support a palestinian state. but i feel that it shold be a war of words, not a real military sort of war

well, i guess my point from all of this is that the US is deeply troubled by civilian casualties and goes after those who are not troubled by them. thanks for listening..and sorry about any nonsesne that i have posted

Much better, an intelligent argument from someone on the american side of things that doesn't need to resort to calling Canadians gay...

Continuing on, I see your point PhaseFour, but from where I sit it seems as if there are too many of these mistakes going on from the american side of things. And they aren't accidently bombing civilians because terrorists are among them, they're bombing them because of a targeting error or misinformation (most of the time, anyway). Granted, mistakes happen, but taking into consideration how powerful the American military is, you would think that their technology and intelligence would prevent civilian death a little more often. If it were a major military power involved and not Afghanistan, I'm sure the American military would take all measures to ensure that innocents are not killed so as not to start a major war.

dude i have nothing against what you said. if only people would start "dicussing things more maturely and intelligently" there wouldn't be so much flaming. all it takes is one bad apple and you can have the entire thread ruined.

and i'm damn serious , too bad i don't have the guts to do it :( i hope someone else will do that for all of us

actually, you won't get the death sentence because you can claim insanity. you can say bush's prolonged bombings against all the innocent afghans made you wig out, you lost all sense of right and wrong, went out, bought a gun (waited the 30 days for it) tracked down george, and emptied the whole clip on him, his wife, his bodyguards etc,... and you know what? you may actually get off. of course it also means that you'll be spending the rest of you life in a mental institution. but it is perfectly within your right in this country. it's one of the freedoms you have. f**ked up? depends on your point of view. but that's what america is about. as f**ked up as it is and as ideally impossible the system is, for people in the outside world, who have no voice, and don't enjoy the things in life that we take for granted, this place is a dream.

personally i think george is an idiot. everytime i see him on the news giving some speech, i cross my fingers and pray for "him" that he doesn't deviate from what his writers gave him. because he always makes up some word that is not in the dictionary. but he is the elected (unpopularly) president, and surrounded by competent people, they won't let him screw up. freedom of speech; you can hate the man in office, disagree with his policies, and can voice your opinion about it, even right to his face even though he may be the most powerful man:haha: in the world.

let me ask those of you who are angry about the fact that the u.s. is still bombing afghanistan: how would you react if say next week the u.s. bombs iraq and assassinates saddam hussein? then the week after bombs yemen, then parts of indonesia, ireland, the gaza strip(won't happen) ...? you'd all probably say "who made you god? what gives you the right to bomb anyone at your discretion?"

let me ask you guys another question. do you think what happened on 9/11 would have happend if another country other than the u.s was in power? if say the uk, holland, germany, brazil, or (insert your country here) was the world's superpower, do you think what happened could have happened to you instead? is there another country willing to take this position? be the voice and figurehead for democracy and justice? go around the play yard and see that everyone play nice. lead by example, and show the world your thriving economy (even though your on the brink of a recession), show that this is a wonderful country to live in (nevermind the homeless, the poverty, the hungry, the unfair justice system, the crime rate, screwed up health care, social, and educational systems)the biased taxation. oh and the political system??
yeah it's true most americans need to get their head out of the sand and realize that yes it can happen here, and that global actions can have consequences and ramifications here. but then there are some here that already know that 9/11 was a long time in coming. but then those of you in other countries need to understand also that if not the u.s. then it could have been any one of you. excuse us for taking a stand on what we believe in and are willing to defend our ideals along with those of our neighbors. 9/11 caused the u.s. not to start a war with afghanistan, but against terrorism. all the facts pointed to the terrorists hiding out in afghanistan. the u.s. asked the afghan government to hand over the al-quaeda, but the taliban played dumb, and said they don't exist. then they said prove beyond all reasonable doubt that they were responsible. the u.s. got fed up with the games and pretty much said in 48 hours, we're gonna bomb the hideouts and anyone connected with them. then the taliban said let's negotiate. too late.

did you guys think it was all gonna end with the al-quaeda and the taliban in afghanistan? this war isn't just against the muslims. it's against all terrorists EVERYWHERE. afghanistan was payback for 9/11, but it's just the start.

those of you cussing out america have every right. it's one of the freedoms you get to enjoy at the expense of others blood, sweat, and tears. there are people who don't have the same luxuries. whose governments clamp down on any form of dissent. and sees the u.s. and it's allies as a threat to their society, and existence. look at what happened in china -tianenmen(?) massacre- as an example.

yes it is tragic that innocent civilians are getting killed, but like it or not, and only history will tell if this was the right way to go, but in the long run, this is for everybody.
imho

well maybe we should be more like Canada then...u guys are so perfect right?...LOL please

wtf did this come from? no one mentioned anything about canada being better than the states, yet you suddenly start ragging on canada out of your ass. The reason there are alot of Canadians in this thread is because there are alot of CDN users on this board who saw you rag on Canada just because a Canadian criticized the American-led (which also includes Canada) bombing of Afghanistan.

This has NOTHING to do with American people, the United States as a country, McDonalds, MTV or you. This is about a joint effort by a bunch of allied nations (which includes BOTH canada and usa). It just happens to be led and started by the U.S. government, and this particular military error committed by U.S. forces.

quote:
U CAN NOT PREVENT CIVILIAN CASUALTIES IN ANNNNNYYYYYY WAR...OH MY GOD

NO ! thats not the point, so stop re-gurgitating this tired argument. The point is that people believe the Armed forces don't even give two s that civilians are dying. The point is that people believe they're just bombing the out of the country, without any regard for humanity. Its like burning the entire house down just to kill a cockaroach.

Of course its nothing new, look at Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the My Lai massacre in Vietnam.

But, you wouldn't be saying " happens" if an enemy fighter with such high tech and precise weaponry flew over your house on the 4th of july while you're shooting fireworks in your backyard, and dropped a bomb on your party. :P You'd be pretty mad. And people here are just as mad that the US fighters did it to the Afghani people, and it makes us realize that this will only keep on going.

Why? because Afghanistan will get mad, and Afghanistan's allies will get mad, and might retaliate on USA. And then the US government will get mad at that, and retaliate on Afghanistan and its allies. And then people who oppose this will get mad... and then... and then...

Terrorism is not a country you can just bomb. :P Unfortunately some people think it is, and thats why there are so many people criticizing this American-Led "war on terrorism." (just incase you didn't get it the first time, american-led means, USA and its allies, including Canada). So America is enganged in war with Terrorism. War includes the casualities of Civilians. happens right? Will you be saying happens when the terrorists (pray this doesn't happen) hit another target in the US? I think not.
