Does anyone think that this is a good deal for a diamond engagement ring? (pg. 14)

You are all ridiculous!
You're assuming that all of us are money hungry or like to show off things. Considering I want either a backyard wedding or to elope with no one present... do you really think I need some crazy ass ring? Uh, no. Would I accept a ring like that if it were offered to me? Of course. Would I care if it were something less expensive? No I would not. First of all - unless you're handing it to me with the price tag still attached, how the hell do I know if you got it off of Ebay for 1/4th of the price or you went and dropped the full price on it? Second of all - I think engagement rings with a mixture of stones are more interesting and unique than diamond on a band.
No offense - but you're right. I would like to think that my boyfriend finds me special and gets me a gorgeous ring. If I got a cookie cutter stupid $14K ring (as nice as they are) I would be offended because he would be assuming I am just like every single other girl. If he had something specially made for $500 that had a mixture of all my favorite stones... THAT would be something I would show off to EVERYONE no matter how "cheap" anyone else thought it was - because it shows that my boyfriend not only loves me, but knows me. AND that he put a whole lot of ing thought into the ring.
So there.

If you think you can have any ring specially made for $500.00 you are crazy.....even without any stones....diamonds or other. |

You're not getting it. The price is besides the point. What I'm saying is - I don't care how much it cost or anything as long as it doesn't look the same as every other kind. Ffs, getting an old ring from an antique store that has both of my favorite stones (which I have seen) works for me.
I don't care about the cost.
I don't care about the ring.
To be honest - I'd rather know that I could spend the rest of my life with someone who loves and respects me with NO ring than be with someone who doesn't, BUT bought me some crazy ring. The ring doesn't symbolize your happiness - all it shows is the amount of money you blew on it. How about we save the money and go on an elaborate vacation and elope? Sounds better to me! |

so you would marry someone who bought you a crazy ring even though you didn't love him....good to know. |

Where did you read that?
"I'd rather know that I could spend the rest of my life with someone who loves and respects me with NO ring than be with someone who doesn't BUT bought me some crazy ring."
Can't read? |

the second part suggests being with someone who doesn't love and respect you but bought you a ring |

No, it states that I would NOT want to be with someone who does NOT love me but bought me a ring.
And just to prove a point - I DID find rings that mix two of my favorite stones for $500.
Every one of those is in the $500 dollar range. |

| if your favourite stones are fakes then yes they do fit into your $500.00 amount and if you like a green finger they would look very nice. |

is an engagement ring really that important? |
It's as important as the dowry. No more, no less.

Again: statistically, not that long. |
