finally to address your fist sentence:
he did play those three songs (load of crap?) and YES I would LOVE to hear Trance in KW (was I hiding that or something?). On a more targeted note, it's to promote all EDM.

My load of crap comment is about your saying how trance works all the time (obviously I'm paraphrasing). I know he played those tracks. I was there too. ;)

What I gather from your posts is that you want to hear trance and nothing but trance. You also come across as being very 'I know what I'm talking about'. As mentioned, 15 people from TA aren't going make a business.

All I'm simply saying is that these guys are on the right path to success if success is ever going to become them.

I did sign the petition too...

unfortunately you are wrong....you build it and they still don't come. Why is it so hard for people to understand that there is no EDM scene in KW and no matter how hard you try.....there will never be one.

I've seen it come and go. Were you around in the 1990s? I'm guessing no.

Like anything, music goes in cycles and waves. Dance music as pop music is hugely popular right now. Lady GaGa, Black Eyed Peas and a whole host of others have broken into the charts with house-based music just like in the early 1990s. For a lot of people, that's the music that gets them looking for more.

Like I said, there have already been rather successful nights held within these cities that have run for quite some time.

Yes I was around throughout the 90s and the underground scene was big almost everywhere back then. We are not talking about an underground scene though...we are talking about a club scene...which KW has never had an EDM Club scene and it won't. KW will never be able to have a dedicated EDM night were you are filling any club week after week for an extended period of time.

What makes you say that? I'm curious since you're obviously an authority.

just look at my several posts in this thread and you will see why KW won't have an EDM scene. The clubs need to play top 40 because the University crowd wants that....they don't want true trance, house, techno, or whatever brand of EDM you want to have playing. If people want that they go to Toronto.

Just to clarify for everyone reading:

- It's pretty clear trance is the hardest thing to make work unless at PR when you have your usual heavy hitters OR if let's say you got a big act down. My comment about GM was more towards the fact that later in the night, you can go trancey like he did and people were loving it, not that it should be the staple.

- It's really about all forms of EDM and quite frankly there are some genres that are easier to draw out for, which is a big consideration

- I'm not making any claims about having some overwhelming knowledge of what can, has and will work, but I've had some experience with what has gone on here and again, I'm simply trying to provide a medium through which people who are interested in having some more events and nights (a little to a lot). That being said, all that's being done is with the help of people who currently have standing here and who can and have gotten stuff done. Even the awareness created by people thinking it can't work is worth something and I hope that if things do start to pick up, you guys support it however fleeting it is.

- Loopdokter does make some very valid points and I'll give him full credit for being in the scene before all of us. Also I think he has some information based opinions on Tabu and I personally am a fan of them bringing in big acts (maybe starting them earlier would be my only request).

ChemEnhanced - you're totally right about what has happened up until now and perhaps the idea to have a club that fills with EDMers weekly is very much a lofty goal, let's see what happens. I'm not doing this cuz I don't have anything else to do, I'm doing it because I think we can make something happen. To quote Larry David, "eh, Whatever works".

For anyone that was @ Tabu from 1:00am-3:15am with Manzone & Strong might have something to add to this.

K/W is coming full circle, granted it won't be the music you hear at 11:00pm, but come out at 1:00am.

Manzone & Strong rocked TABU

I also find that pretty amusing as an initial image, but you'd be surprised how close Armin @ Rev was to happening. The biggest problem with that is that the acts usually come to KW after a night at Guv. Thus, everyone just went to see that DJ the night before. So Kudos to a club for getting a big name in the first place and although they havn't hit Armin/Tiesto/SvD yet...they've done pretty well at Tabu and I hope they are serious about continuing that.

Yes that was the case with Benassi the first time he came. He played the Sunday after the GUV show on Saturday.

Now this Ontario stop he is ONLY stopping at Tabu. Artists love the venue and that's step one to getting them out.

Yeah the only problem i had with the Benassi show in KW was the 40$ cover charge i rather dive for 45min and pay 10$-15$ and see him at Guv but thats just me.

This show is $25 which is the same cost at GUV. Also no parking costs etc etc... cheaper drinks, BTW, never the less watching Benassi in a 600 person venue vs a 3500 is alot different.

so to be clear this show is $25 and our cap is 600.

one thing here...soooo...I arrived at 11:50...stood in line for half an hour. You might remember it was freezing balls last night so that is a lonnnng time. Line did not move even one person, so the whole coming later thing was not an option.

Maybe on a non-event night, but then it's back to the argument of what would you play late in the night.

Funny thing is a lot of people in line had no idea that Manzone & Strong were playing and were just waiting in line forever without an actual reason except that all lines in the 140 plaza were long. I would have bounced in 5 mins if I wasn't trying to get in for M&S. It was obviously at capacity, but that's the trouble...gotta get in at 10:30 on a night like that.
