Saw the trailer. Looks OK. But why are all these kinds of things nearly always the same? The same cheesey predictable soundtrack, the same slow-motion scenes, and the same cheesey predictable phrases.

Would have been good if had done what Eastwood did with Iwo Jima, and show it from both sides.

I'll give it a go nonetheless.

They look the same because they're made by the same people. Saving Private Ryan (starring Tom Hanks and directed by Stephen Spielberg) pretty much set a precedent for World War 2 movies, it was pretty groundbreaking in that respect. Enter Band Of Brothers (produced by Spielberg, directed (?) by Hanks and picked up by HBO) and you've pretty much got Saving Private Ryan 2: The Miniseries with the same themes/tones as Private Ryan. Now we have The Pacific (another Hanks/Spielberg project on HBO) and it's Saving Private Ryan 3: The Kerfuffle in the Pacific. Basically, why ruin a good thing? The other 2 projects were award winning and this is certainly no exception.

I love WW2 stuff :o

Just 'cos it's succesful, doesn't mean it's good. I'd prefer something more original. I can already tell you half the storylines that will appear. Most of the stuff is toe-curling.

I admit, I have liked bits of SPR and BOB. Hopefully this'll be better than those two series, but I just know it's bound to have cringe-worthy and annoying 'OMg1! I love America /tear" moments.

I like WW2 films etc, I just hope this one is good.

Have you seen 'Nanking Nanking'? Or one of my favs "Battle Of Britain" a 1960s flik! Love that film!! Air fight scenes are amazing!

Uhhh...neither Saving Private Ryan nor Band Of Brothers had any of that :conf:

ya, neither of those were really preachy in a way where they were going "i love america, we rule". they have always really been films that tell stories through the characters perspective and the emotions they go through during those unfolding events

Seen both. Aside from the 'fact' that American was apparently the only country in the world saving France, Europe and liberating the concentration camps, I just don't think the films are as amazing as everyone makes them out to be.:o

Perhaos this new film won't put the Peruvians as fighting a raging battle in the Pacific.

Hate to sound non PC here guys, but Japan is still an incredibly racist country, far more than the USA. Thankfully it's becoming less prevalant with the younger generations.

korea and china are pretty racist as well. well, i know koreans don't like china. or japan. or black people. americans are okay, sometimes.

we rock. :p

you can only fit so much in a film, unless you want to watch 6 hours of film in a theater, 2 hours per nation. of course they'll focus on the US, the film is directed/produced by the U.S, what do you expect?

are the germans/french/english/japanese making films about how opposing nations fought in certain wars?

They were TWO SEPARATE MOVIES released in separate dates. If you're so outraged write to Tom Hanks demanding a 10 part Pacific series from the Japanese point of view. Until then stop whining.

How do you expect a series that focuses on the experience of one particular company of US soldiers to include all the other nations and their soldiers?

Do you still believe thermite brought down the towers?

Where am I whining? I'm merely stating that I don't think they're as close to perfection as other pepople say? Jeez, it's a bit of ing criiticism. Deal with it.

Experiences - Fine. Historical inaccuracies. Not fine.

I'm not saying they're bad movies. I said I would watch them. What I'm saying is I simply don't think they're as "omfg awesome" as other people think. Big ing deal.
