you both have points. I have to accept that fact that "we" are at war, but that doesnt mean I want it to happen. I loathe the fact that my money is going towards a stupid war as opposed to more education :whip: :whip: |
Oh... I agree 100%... I hate all of that bull over there...
And I didn't vote for these ppl either...
But I am still a member of this society and therefor include myself in all that this nation is involved in...
Good or bad... |

Yes I think thats what it is exactly and I didn't want to say it...
I wasn't born here either but I've been here almost my whole life and I have a lot of Canadian pride...
Probably more than most Canadians who were born here...
I support our troops... Not the war... |

This war didnt have to happen. It was poor judgement on behalf of American neo-conservatives. They could have just sent in a jackal squad to take out Saddam and deSaddamed the whole country, which could have saved hundreds of thousands of people and more. Or other options.
Hasn't Vietnam been enough? Or Afghanistan? Imperialists need to learn from their mistakes, but they never do. |
Cmon dude.....
This whole thing is MUCH bigger than Saddam....
He was just a favor for daddy....
This war is all about the oil baby.... |

just because someone has an opinion that contradicts a certain group or country doesnt mean they are racist or "anti" something. This is the type of language that tends to discredit those who actually make legitimate claims of racism.
I see this kind of accusation all the time. Whether it's muslims claiming discrimination based on security issues or for support of Israel for example, or groups like the B'nai Brith claiming that someone is an anti semite simply because they oppose Israel's policies.
Sure, we ALL have our biases but lets be civil here. |
My opinion was based on the countless posts in topics that deal with the middle east..i did not go as far to call anyone a racist..i don't take such labels lightly..
ps. civility doesn't exist on TOTA...:D :D |

Dude, Iraq is crap for oil. I can think of all sorts of good non-Saddam, non-WMD ulterior motives for the U.S. invading Iraq but oil ain't one of them.
- To try to spread American culture and indoctrination in the Middle East? Probably.
- To establish a military foothold against Iran and its puppet states? Almost certainly.
- As a giant " you" to the UN? Good possibility.
- As a failed attempt to show up the EU for their perpetual ennui (i.e. playing the pathetic odds of finding real WMDs)? I can buy that.
- Because the U.S. military got an itchy trigger finger and didn't want to wait for better intelligence? Likely.
- So Bush Jr. could finally finish what his daddy started? Conceivable.
But oil? Pff, as if the U.S. needs a few pints of Iraqi oil. Saddam had already given most of it away in that colossal global -up, the Oil-for-Food program. America's buddies the Saudis have plenty enough to last, and don't forget that the U.S. has lots on its own land (it's just that people don't want to let them drill... better to keep the money flowing to Abdullah bin Boobitybizznatch or whatever his name is).
Why must people try to be so subtle about this? Yes, there were reasons other than Saddam (duh). Some of them good, some of them not so good. It's useless to argue now about how it all started. What matters now is how it's going to finish.
P.S. To gummybear and anyone else who replied to me, sorry but there's no way I'm wading through 60 posts of melodrama in order to read what's no doubt just another garbage heap of lame personal attacks on myself along with glowing praise for this unabashed propagandist and how his blurry video moved you to tears as if you hadn't already fully made up your minds about what's happening in a remote area of the world that you've never been to and never will. |
