OK! Let me explain something to you discourteous, disrespectful, and downright hateful individuals.
Mohammed the prophet of the muslim people is a holy man who is loved dearly by his people. When you insult him, its like insulting a member of the family. So, why do you have to go out of your way to insult some like that just for a few laughs. What you're seeing on the news does not represent Islam, but a small faction of hardline fundamentalists. When I want to look at any faith, I don't consider that its most violent, destructable, and dellusional faction represents the whole.
Does the Westboro Baptist Church represent Christianity? no
Was the Inquisition the fault of the Christian people? no
Does Al-Qaeda represent Islam? no
Do the mormons represent Christians? no
Does the KKK represent America? no
Do druglords represent South America? no
Does the mafia represent Italians? no
and so on
"Duh, its just a joke man" warrants no excuse.
You people need to learn some respect. The muslim people love and honor their prophet dearly. Just because you have no respect for your own leaders doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to insult others. Would you like me to insult a member of your family or a loved one? How would you feel? If you insulted my mother or my father, who unfortunately have passed, I would be furious.
Don't you people have any morals, values, or principles?
Just to clarify, I'm a protestant christian but this has to be said, you people need to learn some respect.

so are you against people drawing political cartoons depicting REAL people then? a lot of people go 'out of their way' to insult or criticize anyone for anything publicly, and it can have negative consequences on those targeted and/or anyone that 'loves and honours' them. but that's life. blasphemy on the other hand is a victimless crime.
