That's pretty cool. Bison are native to North America though, right? I doubt I'd be able to find it here. Ain't no Bison wandering around :p |

dumb question but what does "Gamey" taste like? I hear that term thrown around to describe certain birds and deer, and on that Andrew Zimmern show where he eats all kinds of "gamey" ...
how do you know what tastes gamey and what doesn't?
I realize this may be as pointless of a question as asking what fish tastes like..b/c it tastes like fish.
but maybe someone has a useful way of describing it? |

so its just one of those flavors that theres no other explanation for so it just gets a general "gamey" classification? is that why theres multiple animals that get that label b/c they don't taste like anything else?
like frog i hear tastes like chicken...but no one says chicken tastes like frog :eyespop: |

Everything tastes like chicken.
Gamey is like, eh, what happens because they get lots of exercise. No idea how to explain how it tastes. Don't even really remember, lol. Haven't eaten meat in so long. |

hmm wonder if its b/c the meat isn't as high in fat content by nature? b/c the animal wasn't bred or evolved for eating...that makes sense..i could see where "gamey" is going.
kinda relate that to certain plants--some are great for eating, some you wouldn't want to eat even if you could b/c they taste "woody" or bitter...asparagus is the venison of vegetables. you either love it or hate it, but it doesn't taste like any other veggie out there--you can cook it horribly wrong and it tastes like , or prepare it well and its sooo tasty.
asparagus = deer. |
