No.19 & Art Department did a Halloween party there, really cool space. |
I went to hear Sneak there on Canada Day (it's john and adelaide, basically a door or two up from hooters on John), I'm not surprised that's where he said it was going to be...however did it actually happen? |

Awesome at the afterparty place. Cool beans.
I went to one or two Milkrun and Box of Kitten jams, those are so amazing compared to a lot of the 'regular' club parties we go to...mostly because the people are so friendly AND they space them out so they're not every weekend. ;) |

I mean, really?! |
sorry, why? if that's what made that person begin to like and follow that DJ, why not share it with everyone else? this is a music forum? It may be hype material for that person.
If someone wants something more recent, they will find it.
Sure I understand DJs change their style along the way, but its still them.

Ok, so Villalabia sucked - all 17 pages of it confirmed it. But Fries and Bridges were awesome.
And Phil Weeks and DJ Mes destroyed "Our House" the next night. Word on the street is that Hector Moralez will be spinning at "Our House" this Friday, Nov 12th 2010... so people that were at the party, they can contest how good quality he truly is.
So yeah, real night of beats, without all the bull propaganda, no $50 cover charge either, no attitude... it's very laid back. And that should sort of answer the question of the title of this thread. :)
What could be better? Well, a night out with Hector Moralez. lol
Sooooo very excited for this Friday! |

lol, gotta love reality setting in to a bunch of lemmings. Anyone with half a brain, that doesnt follow hipster hype would tell you that attending this night would be a joke. Comon, this flamer looks a mess behind the decks 9 out of the 10 times hes attempting to spin. He most likely has a major hearing impairment to go with a longstanding coke addiction.
As for the venue, the place is a mess. Their concept is standard fair in Toronto's scene in 2010. They will be 6 feet under in a year, maybe 2. |

because majority of the Dj's do not play the same sound, let along tracks back from early 2000's, c'mon Kris! what is the point of hyping old sets which do NOT reflect what the Dj sounds like in the upcoming event?
did you miss out on the roll call? :) I didn't mean generally sharing great old sets, we have download threads for those :)
esp. in the context of this thread when 2 people already said they haven't heard anything good from RV, then someone posts a 2002 set - how's that even helpful?:) like RJ said - even Tiesto was good in 2002... |

LoL
The question was to post an impressive RV set.....imo that set from 2002 is a pretty solid one of his, i don't really see whats wrong with posting it up lol
But i agree with you about the roll calls and hype materials, posting recent stuff would help give an idea of what to expect. It can be a challenge though with certain djs as some are quite reluctant to allow their sets to be recorded often... |

sooo that means that for the past 8 years RV has been ? cos that's the impression I would get :) post a good 2009/2010 set - now we're talking :) of course like you said - not all Dj's release their stuff freely.. even radio shows are a poor indicator of how good/bad the Dj is |

+1 to this. Getting hyped up for an event doesn't necessarily have to be hype about the DJs current sound, it could be getting hyped to see the DJ period.
For instance, I really like old Sasha sets, and you can pretty much guarantee that I will probably throw on an old Sasha set on the 26th to get me pumped to see him at TiL.

If you thought that set from 2002 was a classic one then why shouldn't you post it? Who says that hype material has to be from the last year?
If people are seeing a DJ for the first time and want to hear what a DJ spins and there's no recent sets in the roll call, there's nothing stopping them from searching current sets online, or asking someone to post a new one. |

as I said already, it may be hype material for the person who posted the set in the roll call :)
what is one person's hype material may not be another person's hype material.... kinda like how one person's opinion may very well differ from another person's opinion:) |
