We are moving away from the random and sometimes annoying nature of renegades of the past toward a more organized "Community Stage" model in which previously unregulated renegades will need a permit from us to set up. Bottom line is that we want to ensure people get the widest variety of music possible but also have some sort of control over where and when they play. Our goal will be to create a "quiet zone" for those who want it and a music zone for those wanting to be part of the community stage areas.

Thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like a pretty good idea.

All in all if you don't agree with the prices or don't want to buy tickets before seeing the lineup/location/etc then just don't buy one. Nobody is forcing a gun to your head. The pre-sale tickets are for people who want to go regardless of the variables, if that's not you then just hold off there's really no benefit in trash talking.

If they release the lineup and it's garbage not worth the $$ then for sure, let it rip.

exactly but I would still like to on account of how i missed WEMF 08 due lack of funds and a ride there

I think some of you are blowing the price out of proportion.
For $150-200 a ticket you are getting 3 days of electronic music, a place to stay and are allowed to bring your own alcohol and party favours. That doesn't sound so bad to me.

I attend DEMF in Detroit every year and luckily I live in Windsor so I don't have to worry about a place to stay but realistically most people from out of town spend a couple of hundreds of dollars. A three day pass for pre-sale right now is already at $60 (it used to be free to attend) and it's not until the end of May. Hotels for 2-3 nights are $300+, booze is expensive (approximately $8-10 a drink) since they figure not many people are drinking and its in the USA so if you are crossing the boarder there a great chance you're getting pulled in and trust me you don't want to deal with the s at the US boarder. So rough figure with gas, food, etc there is at least $500-600.
Don't get my wrong though, it's my favourite festival to attend and I haven't missed it in the past 5 years, but like I mentioned earlier, I have the benefit of living locally so my expenses are cut down.

But I do understand since I myself couldn't agree to spending $150 without knowing even a location let alone what kind of talent to expect but maybe that's also because I have never had the pleasure of attending one of these events in the past.

^^^ that pretty much sums it up. Not to mention to go waterfront camping alone can cost close to $100 for 3 days just for the campsite fee. There's a lot included in the cost of those tickets.

But the most i have ever paid for a wemf was like 100$ and i have been to 7-12 ....
