Skrillex? Calvin Harris? while good talented names, they arent the plur'y vibe i go for.
I dont think its bad booking..but it goes to show how much the scene has changed in the last 4-5 years.
Im gonna try and pull the necessary strings to get to Shambala in BC.

WEMF has never really been big on tech house because that crowd, for the most part, does not want to come and camp or hang with the folks who do. (hah - I know I'll get flamed but its a fact...)

To some it's all partying, to others, not.
Some like Vanilla, others like Chocolate.

Sorry, this makes no sense to me....
You can't honestly be saying "WEMFs line-up is not plur'y compared to Shambhala" when Skrillex, Zeds Dead and Stanton Warriors are headlining both festivals as well as both events have a big focus on bass driven music in their line-ups.
If you want to talk differences because Shambhala has been on the same grounds for a decade and all the stages and art onsite have organically grown over the years, or that you'll just never get that many hippies out to a festival in Ontario ;), fine, but musically they are more similar than ever. Not sure if you've been to Shambhala before but hope you can make it sometime because the festival is amazing, good luck this year though as they have completely sold out their 10 000 tickets.
I'm thinking this will be the "plur'y ist" WEMF in a long time (can't believe I typed that....haha). A lot of the inspiration behind this year's relaunch seems to be coming from the more art based west coast festivals.

Well, it is a Trance forum. WEMF used to have more of a Trance-heavy lineup, in addition to the ol' Blacklight Activists Tent.

The temptation to go to Shambhala is because of the reasons you listed above. More hippies, a bigger focus on art/culture, 10,000 people. Usually those go hand in hand with the plur vibe. WEMF in my experience generally doesnt have that component. Especially more recently.
Compare WEMF 2005 to 2011's lineup. Stark difference. Thats the difference im talking about.
Again, ill iterate, i dont think the booking is bad, I just feel its been adapted for the change in the scene. Which unfortunately isnt my preference.

The "Tower Of Destiny" stage from Burning Man will be at WEMF 2011
(as posted in their press release on www.wemf.com)
Nice!
Ashlee
So excited to see that stage at WEMF
I've watched the videos over and over again and it still amazes me every time!

I was pissed during last WEMF because trance wasn't at the main stage, but this line up is just wow. :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
Why did they have to cancel eclipse this year. This is "WEMF" my ass, they should call it DNB and other even tier noises festival.

? They had trance at the main stage. They switched the styles for each night; the first night the main stage had 4x4 (i.e. house and trance) and the second night it had DnB.
