I purchased my tickets through wanttickets for this event about 3-4 months ago. I recently received an email saying that they are changing the willcall tickets to print at home tickets. This is the email that I recieved:
Hello,
Following our previous email, we are reaching you because your order needs to be verified before we can change it from willcall to print at home tickets.
Because Wantickets is taking real care of their customers by making sure the use of credit cards are not fraudulent we need to verify your identity by sending us the following.
Please complete this form in full and fax it to 514.667.6939 or scan it and send it back to [email protected] (please note that some customers are taking a picture of the documents and send them back by email (in JPEG format) for more convenience).
Along with a clear photocopy of both sides of the credit card followed with a clear Picture ID of the authorized cardholder.
Print at Home Tickets will then be send to your email for you to print.
Thank you for your collaboration,
I refuse to send my credit card and photo ID to these guys.
Has anyone else recieved this email and what did you do?

| Very sketch indeed... You can purchase many things on the net for several grand and above with a credit card and you don't need to do any of that crap. I'd say it's either scammish or wantickets is just that incompetent. Either way I'd call them up and harass if you have time. |

I wrote them back an email saying im not doing it but they still havent got back to me.
Hopefully no one else is falling for this that bought tickets |

For those that missed the announcement on facebook\twitter, we have made a deal with wantickets to offer all of our customers print and scan tickets free of charge. This was an option that was not available originally or we would have had used it then instead of will call as we are doing now.
The reason for this is that it will speed up entry at the gate in get you and everyone else into the party much faster!
Wantickets requires ID and the credit card as proof of the order in case of charge backs as required by the credit card companies. Normally you dont have to do this because the ticket is either mailed to the cards billing address or your show your ID and card to a person at the gate.

Why would they want proof of the order. The transaction already went through and they clearly have a record of the transaction if they know my email address.
And if this is the case why did my friend get a link to his tickets and he purchased his tickets the exact same way.
This sounds like a huge scam and since it is their error why would I now have to go out of my way to do all this? |

Because when they mail the ticket to the credit card billing address it is accepted as proof of legal payment by the credit card companies should someone want to challenge the charge.
When you normally pick up a will call ticket they have you sign a form with ID which is later faxed back to the credit card companies as proof of payment and pickup.
It's no scam - like you said, they already have your credit card number! Someone is contacting people one at a time to make this change but goal is that all will call orders will be switched over before the event.

What if that really wasnt your credit card? (ie - stollen cards or some kid taking their parents card). They have obviously already been screwed by people with charge backs in the past for other events and this protects them as a vendor.
