I thought they were starting to implement that, like they do in the NFL, but to a lesser degree. I heard they were trying to make it 2 years before you could get drafted, unless you wanted to get drafted straight out of high school and just skip college.

Anyways, Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick are terrible examples. For one, Morrison stayed 3 years and Reddick stayed 4. Then turn around and take a look at Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose. The talent is the difference. Morrison and Reddick were great ball players but they can't excel at the next level like Melo and Rose. Why the would Melo and Rose want to stay in college where they could potentially get injured and blow millions of dollars? That's where this whole situation is all screwed up. Either go early and play like a rookie for a few years, or stick around and risk getting hurt. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

rofffllll that villanueva video is hilarious. i've never seen a player do that before! runs after the guy, continues to run into his own locker room while motioning "come after me" and then apparently tried to run to the other locker room...all of this after HE SWUNG AT THE DUDES DICK
unreal!!!!!!

No man I agree with you; the best talent leaves after 1 year, a la Rose and Melo. We get stuck with faux stars like Morrison and Reddick that make people go on about how awesome college basketball is because their dude scores 30 a game. I feel bad for coaches like Krzyzewski who routinely get the best prospects, and lose them after a year. That has to suck balls. He got Kyrie Irving for 10 games this year, and peace out.

Well for coaches like Calipari, that's their modus operandi. They want the one-and-doners just so they can build their rep and puff up the chances of them getting drafted high. It seems to work, I'll definitely give it to him. Calipari has managed to make it to the Elite Eight 5 times in 6 years. Pitino recruits kids that are 3-year minimums, hoping they can fulfill the ultimate college dream and play games til they're seniors where they will theoretically succeed and develop their skill enough to become a professional. Unfortunately, that has seemed to fail. So what is the "correct" way to recruit kids in college?

Don't know man. I guess if I were a coach, I would go the Calipari route and try to get the best talent even if it was for just 1 year. In college, talent alone can go a long way- you have 1 or 2 supremely talented players and you can go pretty far. This whole Bob Knight thing about not recruiting players unless they're gonna stay 3 or 4 years... that's dinosaur stuff now, and it doesn't work. The best players aren't going to commit to that type of these days, and frankly I don't blame them.

Me neither. I mean, let's be real here, who actually wants to go to school? :p

College basketball blows. Can't understand why someone would rather watch a minor league version instead of the highest level of competition.

HOWEVER despite the drama of the NBA this season, I still can't really get excited about the idea of just sitting down to watch a regular season game unless my favorite team (the Bulls) are involved. Playoffs should be epic this year though.

NBA basketball is boring to watch. Run up the court, score, run back up the court, score. Teams don't play defense like they do in college. I'd much rather see a 75-80 point game with good defense than a 100+ point one with a bunch of superstars scoring at will over the white guys.

Also Bynum sucks and is a huge . the Lakers :p

bynum getting hurt changes the whole dynamics of the western conference playoffs

Renzo
Didn't seem like a bad injury - just a hyperextension.

I doubt he'll miss more than the 1st round. We shall see.

i don't really know anything about injuries in sports :p
that wouldn't be too bad if he only had to miss a little bit of time
