I love hanging out with you...but I think you know I completely disagree with this sentiment. These people will completely end up destroying the scene that we've been loving for years...and obviously very quickly.

im certain you fall into that category

I love hanging with you too and I completely respect your opinion. I'm hopefully SHM will serve as gateway artists although I understand your concerns.

I thought this may be the case too but now highly doubt it. Pop music only breeds more pop music... No one ever heard Maroon 5 and now likes Pink Floyd because of it.

I just don't see the SHM destroying this scene. What I do see is the new fans of EDM that are new to the scene destroying it. You know those fans that when you try to have any conversation will give you blank stares if you mention any names other than Deadmau5,Kaskade, Afrojack, Avicii.

Obviously the SHM sound is completely different from what it used to be. Even individually, their live sets are not what they used to be. Angello used to be darker and flirting with the techno side, and Axwell sets used to be groovier true house sound. Yet a lot of the SHM fans only know them from 'Leave the world behind' and forward.

IF these new fans stay close minded and don't open up to the other forms of EDM they are missing out. Missing out on great parties and artists, like James Zabiela, Davide Squillace, Carl Cox, etc etc.

I'm willing to bet 99% of the people on this forum started with some pretty mainstream .

The CLR party was a mob scene...and it wasn't full of neon kandi kid noobs.

I had a better time at the SHM party too, lul

I would only consider EDM to be 'mainstream' in the US for 1 maybe 2 years. There arent that many noobs here that 99% of TA's fall into that. I guess it depends on your definition of the term. Mine is more SMH, Afrojack, LMAO stuff you heard on the radio/KTU not PVD, A&B, Digweed. They are popular but not AT ALL mainstream in any way.

i def disagree with edm being mainstream for only 1 or 2 years...pop artists are now crossing over and doing colabs with big dj's
so of course every dj and their mother is gonna hop on the bandwagon cause the money will be there, i hate to say it but this trend will be around for years to come

you will never hear digweed on ktu, nor would you wont to
heck i dont even think he would wanna be on it lol
and i dunno where you have been the last 2 years but A&B are very very mainstream, they sold out with their sun and moon bull stuff

Really? 2009 or prior, name 5 tunes in Billboard's US top 100 that was produced by an EDM artist or would even be considered EDM containing a 4/4 kick. Modonna may be one, but that is one artist.

i though you were saying
that this current trend of edm pop will only be around 1 or 2 more years to come
my mistake

madonna's stuff she can get away with, she been around for years and has always been differnt and had some edm influence in some of her music
but 2009 was imo was def the start of the crossover with shm,guetta,deadmau5,tiesto etc etc
