The trouble is that he is conforming, where once he didn't. During their heyday Sasha and Digweed defined the trend. What has changed is they now follow it. Sasha has never been much of a deep house DJ and he certainly didn't popularise the style of deep house he is playing now. He is following a trend and that has been happening for several years now. Sasha is no longer a trend-setter or innovator, and the vitality has gone from his work as a result.
And arguments that fans are "pigeon-holing" him are just evasive bull. Sasha changed his sound year after year in his heyday - you even made a thread in wonder of how quickly the sound of progressive changed in the late '90s. That's what made it "progressive". It's a case of him no longer developing his own sound in a holistic way (thus keeping his fans onside) but rather jumping on board the latest bandwagon and thus leaving a lot of long-time fans alienated. |

| Jack nailed it. Digweed is essentially doing the same thing, although he's wrapped himself in a cocoon of Bedrock material that just isn't worth the time. Definitely not compared to what Bedrock once was. |

Well I stand corrected then. It is true that Sasha is no longer a trendsetter like he used to be. |

| The second one you can probably just skip, although there are a few tracks off it I liked. Mainly his remix of M83 - Couleurs. The first is definitely essential listening. It still holds up tremendously, and it's just full of awesome music. |

Not necessarily. I mean it might include one of his collabs with James Teej (apparently more are on the way) but I feel like this is going to have a lot of electronic/melodic techno. We shall see indeed. |

The remix of Couleurs is fantastic, it's like a '00s equivalent of a classic Spooky remix from 1993.
I'm not a huge fan of either Involver though, to be perfectly honest. |
