On the topic of M83, are they any good? I've heard good things, but don't entirely trust the sources and have never given them a listen myself.
Meh, I'll probably check out at least the first Involver, I'm a sucker for stupid from my old idols. Still want to get Fundacion first, though, and a ton of other stuff.

All worth checking out. Before the Dawn Heals Us is my favorite from him, although the new album is pretty fun.

Yeah, M83 is pretty awesome. I've found it is relatively easy to overload on his stuff, though. It's like sweet, sweet wall of sound candy for your ears.

Was listening to Mixmag Presents: Never Say Never in the car today... one of the most enjoyable things I've heard from Sasha in a while... I have a feeling Inv3 is gonna be along the same lines - we will almost assuredly be seeing tracks from Scuba and Paul Kalkbrenner on there.
Inv2 was decent, but Inv1 was one of my all-time favorites.

Yeah I know. They are both brilliant in their respected craft, but I wouldn't say they are trend setting at all. No one really follows that sorta vibe in the sense it is respected and played, but who tries (and succeeds in emulating that stuff?).
I think this is a product of the modern world tbh, you are not going to get super-superstars anymore. Not really anyway.
A really terrible band from the UK called one direction have just made history with their UK Debut album going No.1 in the US.
Impressive feat. will they be around in 5 years? Doubtful. Forgotten in 10 and most likely skint the lot of them, since they don't write their tunes nor play any instruments.

Because none of those names have created and popularised a new style entirely through their own DJ sets and podcasts, whereas dBridge & Instra:mental have. And plenty of DJs (not to mention producers) have followed their lead. Loads of drum 'n bass acts who are now putting out Autonomic-influenced records, in the same way in the '90s producers would make "Sasha-esque" tracks, trying to get them played by the Man Like.
There are plenty of other DJs who are creating and dictating trends in dance music right now. Scuba is a great example, FlyLo would be another. If you think DJs no longer set trends in dance music, you are chatting some mighty .
