As long as we want to, yes, it happened in a vacuum, or at least, it wasn't caused by some evil organization of some sorts, as many want to believe. Do you really think the way the West reacted to 9/11 was in any way healthy?
I say those money we use to hunt down anyone who looks suspicious, is better spent on education and infrastructure, both on a domestic and international level.
Seriously, what do we gain from finding out who was behind this, other than things we already know?

i've ran a few races myself, I've been at the finish line greeting for the NY marathon, I can agree I don't ever see an increased presence of law enforcement or even bomb sniffing dogs. If anything, there is always a swarm of 'race officials' at the finish line who are adorned race sponsored apparel and not NYPD or anything related to a credible threat prevention.
University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.
"They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it's just a training exercise," Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15.
Stevenson said he saw law enforcement spotters on the roofs at the start of the race. He's been in plenty of marathons in Chicago, D.C., Chicago, London and other major metropolitan areas but has never seen that level of security before.
"Evidently, I don't believe they were just having a training exercise," Stevenson said. "I think they must have had some sort of threat or suspicion called in."
CNN reports a state government official said there were no credible threats before the race.
Stevenson had just finished the marathon before the explosions. Stevenson said his wife had been sitting in one of the seating sections where an explosion went off, but thankfully she left her seat and was walking to meet up with him.
"We are just so thankful right now," Stevenson said.

Here's the deal, America is the world's military and economic superpower, the govt needs to show the world it will act in the best interest of its citizens by enforcing the law. That's it, that's the hand the U.S must play, and will most certainly play.
The current administration has become too complacent.
