If I understand it, Chechnya is still officially a part of Russia, even though their de facto organization seeks separation, to which Russia will not recognize. It's not unlike China/Tibet. I could be wrong about this, though, but it's been the source of their strife since the early 1990s. |

| quote: | | BOSTON—In the midst of a widespread manhunt that has put the city of Boston on lockdown, CNN released a series of photographs today depicting the three obese Mexican women it claims are the chief suspects in the Boston Marathon attack. “My top-level sources have confirmed that the individuals depicted in these photos planned, coordinated, and put into effect this week’s deadly bombing,” said CNN reporter John King, speaking of the trio of overweight hispanic women, two of whom reportedly died in the late 1990s and one of whom has never actually visited the United States. “If you come across the suspects, please be careful. My sources tell me these women are armed and highly dangerous.” At press time, everyone at CNN was congratulating one another on the good job they’ve been doing. |

| Chechnya is indeed still part of Russia, though the Chechnyians consider themselves separate from Russia and have fought to be independent. |

Knocking off a 7/11 in an escape spree? |
Yup, idiots...
I think the release of their pictures and officially being named suspects spooked them.
I admit, I gave them way too much credit. I thought they would have been long gone by now, not a few miles from the scene of the bombings. |

It is, but it's as much a part of Russia as Puerto Rico is of the US. Saying he spent time in Russia doesn't automatically mean he was even anywhere near Chechnya. |

I guess, but what is the point? He might've still been in contact with Chechnyan terror cells in central or east Russia, to which Russia has been plagued with for decades:

//Scraping for a motive here is pointless, though. It will probably be made clear in the next few days. |

It is being reported that their neighbor recognized them from the FBI photos and this set the whole thing off. Why they stopped to rob a 7-11 I have no idea. |
