Combine the worst players of tower of power and steeley dan if that is even possible , give them a partial lobotomy and a load of ritalin and have Philip Glass as producer making sure no musician expresses himself without it being on the lead sheet and then have it mixed on a computer making the intended playback system an elevator PA and you would pretty much get the new daft punk album. Not sure how they managed to make something so ing dull. Most will say it sucks because it isn't house/dance music but it is just bad no matter the context. The problem is that you have about 20 years of live funk music that just puts this to shame. Growing is important for artists but this just sounds like the GOP commissioned an album that white people could dance to. What a disappointment.
just brutal. |

i've heard is overhyped most than "this is great" (Coming from experienced listeners not noobs because in the first place i think Daft Punk it's far from being edm and the pop/rock label beatport has given to their get lucky single is not surprising for me)
Judging that single i think it's , can't believe that is still on #1 beatpor. |

All of their best previous work was like 90% stolen content - e.g. harder, better, faster, stronger or robot rock.
What did you expect? |

| I listened to the full stream on Grooveshark. L4C is way off. |

in what respect ?
I think perhaps you have never really listened to actual live music so you are not accustomed to how people actually play and this doesn't sound completely synthetic.
I commented on the playing, the mix , the arrangement and the redundancy of the entire thing compared to what has been done over 40 years ago. Where am I way off. |

immense how ? I wasn't bitching. It is just a disappointing album. They really should of hired a producer and arranger to help them navigate the area of music they tried to do but just really feel short.
It isn't an EDM album and when you put this up against the most bland of funk records, i mean i just don't get how you can listen to it and not feel like you are listening to something made for a hotel lobby. There is nothing to really gestate unless you have been listening to house music all your life and because it is daft punk, you will broaden your horizons just for this album only. In that instance, i get how you might think it is good.
I am surprised in that they obviously are aware of what has been done given their use of samples of some pretty obscure funk/disco records. Usually people that listen to the music can at least tell when it doesn't sound right. But this album doesn't sound right. It sounds like a funk album made specifically for white people. That is the best way i can put it. And the one disco track on it is just a ing mess.

i don't think it's trying to be the next George Clinton record, it's just a culmination of their influences. i hear funk, disco, synth pop, almost every decade of music since the 70s in here.
no reason for comparison, just enjoy good music. |

| yes, if you put all their influences thru a soulsucking meat grinder. And that is the problem. There is nothing there that hasn't been done by others a million times better. It makes the album completely redundant and that for me is the sign of a bad album. It really offers nothing which is disappointing in that they really did go leftfield not trying to make a commercial album. Most people at least make things interesting when a commercial aesthetic isn't the goal. |

You're completley right. I've never really listened to actual live music. Ever. You win this round. |
