at least this thread has quieted down from the 'new york welcome' phase...
i think other people have already made very eloquent and well thought out responses as to why we should not be at war, and i notice no pro-war page long responses to those (Vesa and JohnSmith, props to you for putting in the effort) |
Journey to the political forum if you want page long responses in support of the war ... |

Before i start this thread, i want to say it doesn't represent my views upon the war and it doesn't 'not' represent my views on the war. I just wish to remain neutral in order for a flame war not to start.
In the run up to the war there were lots of anti-war protests and discussions amoungst countrys themselves, and their population.
When you see today on the news that iraq citizens are flocking by the hundreds to celebrate and dance in the streets whilst shaming the statue of their evil dictator, and that the vast majority of the countrys inhabitants itself want saddams reign to be abolished and that the war is a good thing, prasing blair and bush.
How can you then fight your cause and try to make a water-tight argument for your protests against the war ?

this war is stupid and It's all US fault they pick on countries so they can show of theyr might. oh aand they claym they are sawing the world while doing it...
I wish they just admited the real reasons for going to Iraq, its oil and so they can control the area there cause Iraq gives them good foothold for launching attacks in middle east...
after iraq is done I bet some othe country will come next... south corea??, Iran??, How about THE WHOLE ING WORLD HUH????
well here are my thoughts on the war.... I awayt to be flamed..
Just when you doit say something inteligent, calling me terrorist and an iddiot is not wery inteligent response... get it all teh time ...:D :D |

well what you see on TV doesnt neceserily represent the vievs of all the Iraques... you think it would look good on tv in US if they showed iraques pissing on the soldiers.?? it would not.
But besides that, its posible that the iraqes are happy that sadam is gone, now the question is what will happen now ??
and is US reealy going to make things better??
And if it does why is it doing it?? cause they love 'democracy' or for theyr own ends...> cheep oil, controll of the area, and getting to set up a puppet government who will love US..
So it may be good that america did liberate Iraq, but they didnt doit cause they love freedon as they so wehementy say at every ocasion, but for theyr own reasons, thats what makes me mad they are no great defenders of peace they simply do thing the way they want them done and dont let annyone stand in theyr way not anny other counties, not UN councill, not even they own peoples oppinions. |

I'm not denying what ur saying isnt true, but isnt hyprocritical and/or naive to suggest that governments shouldnt do things based on their self interests.
You could make an equally convincing argument the countries that oppose the war dont really care about peace, but are concerned about the balance of power (viewing the US as threat to their national interests). They are guilty of doing nothing and allowing the atrocities to occur in Iraq all these years.
Its now clear that Sadam and his regime could only be over thrown by military force. |

it doesn't matter whether the people of iraq go out into the streets and celebrate, or wave american and british flags, or stomp and burn pictures of saddam...there will always be people that are against war or against the allies of this war regardless.
there are people who hate the u.s. for whatever reason and it's not going to change just because we free a nation. and after the allies free people of iraq, and find illegal weapons, and help iraq to run their own country not under a dictator, there will be that group of people who will still have that cynical mentality towards america.
sadly, it's just the way it is. |
