Okay, WWI and WWII are the first big ones that come to mind. Our past and present treatment of First Nations people. Our past and present treatment of our natural resources. George W. Bush. Vietnam War. Gulf War.

And these are a few of my least favorite things...

So you're not proud that Canada went to war against a nation infected with evil? I agree that our treatment of Native people was wrong, but it was a different time with different attitudes. Need I remind you that Native people were just as barbaric and warlike as the Europeans. But we're dealing with those mistakes now, aren't we?

Politicians directly influence our lives and shape our future and to do that effectively, they should know their history well. What I'm doing here is refuting Stereo Princess's foolish comment that all historian's do is analyse the past and have no use in present day. What an idiotic thing to say.

Well so why not study policial science and not history?

You will see what you will be eventually using your great Huron College degree for. To decorate your mom's house with while you are still living there and not having a job.

My comments are not foolish, I can't believe that you cannot accept a pure science persons' point of view.

Its really interesting some people are accepting of others and some people aren't. I have a totally different view of the world than you do and we just clash at all points. Its people like you that will eventually become politicians and up any chance of this earth being saved.

Now look here. DJ Smitty is a well-informed, educated, rational, practical, open-minded individual that consistently puts his peers above himself. He has a refined social etiquette and a neverending supply of charisma and charm, and one day he will grow up to be someone great and influential. Many envy his true excellence and uncanny success in all of his life's endeavours. His opinions are certainly not to be taken lightly. I think you're all just jealous of his achievements.

Now take the opposite of everything I just wrote, and you'll have a pretty accurate description.

My respect for you is all but gone.....your argument is pointless. Ok sure, let's not teach the Crusades, even though we have a Crusade on our hands right now. Let's not teach WW2 and the Holocaust, because "damn, it's just going to happen again anyway! we'll deal with it when it comes around again." What a ing retarded statement.

Ever hear of high school? Those are ing high school topics. I learned that in ing grade 6. My parents told me about the Holocaust since they lived through it. Do I need to spend 4 years learning this? No. Apply it to something then come to me and tell me something to be proud of.

I could also say that graduating science students are just as hard pressed to find a career in their area as well as history students. A history degree is a stepping stone to higher education...a 3 year degree is useless, as is a 3 year general science degree, unless you want to work for 10 dollars an hour the rest of your life.

Without people like me that become those "nasty" politicians, you wouldn't even have the opportunity to go to school and save the earth. Without people who respect history and democracy, you'd be living under people like Hitler and idiots like Saddam Hussein. Try to remember that.

I bet you guys are the kind of people that don't wear poppies on Remembrance Day.

Did you hear how they killed many Japanese immigrants just because they were Japanese or turned them into slaves on farms?

On a totally unrelated note, did anyone see the new anti-drug commercial that says "Just tell your little brother you forgot to pick him up because you were getting high. He'll understand" and then fades to some comment like "Responsibility - your anti-drug"? WHAT THE WAS THAT?

I don't even understand what they were trying to say. Do they mean that only stupid irresponsible people smoke weed (in which case, that would make 90% of Canadians stupid and irresponsible)? ARGH, my head is going to explode trying to figure out their logic!
