they discovered a missing page to later versions

Interesting. How can you define someone's point of view as being false? It is their belief that has been arrived at without full evaluation of what it would take to be omnipotent, omniprescent and (if you believe the teachings of the Old Testament) jealous. Which pretty well describes both sides of the debate.
Of course, there's clarifications to be made. Are we talking a Judo-Christian anthropomophic deity here or just one of your general mythologies used by ancient people to try and explain away that which seemed magical to them? 'Cos if we're talking Trinity, Popes and death of the Roman Empire here I'd just like to ask how you feel about beating your Hebrew slaves within an inch of their lives (permissable under Bible teachings). Or how you offer your burned animals up for sacrifice to God (also part and parcel of The Bible). Sleeping with your father (after giving him wine, which is the tradition) or making enemies eat crap (second book of Kings, people) don't need to be discussed here.
An awful lot of people say they're Christian, but many of them wouldn't be able to tell you what the 9th Commandment is. Even the Catholics and Protestants can't agree on the order of 'the Ten' so it looks like any answer is valid.
What do I believe? We're on a rock orbiting a yellow dwarf with all this stuff around us... if we're the biggest thing out there, I'd be very surprised!!! Don't think the next step up looks much like us, and I doubt the next step up is the top step either.

I just read the whole post (sad I know) and to mju:zik ,who posted something "interesting" in November, claiming that god had been proven mathematically and he doubts anyone would understand the equation well....
I am a mathematician!!! Post away!
anyone who knows him please ask because i would love to see this nonsence.
oh and any info on what "mathematician" created it would be nice!
anyhoo the post has missed the definition of god as being "the maker and upholder of all things" from that definition pretty much all posts (for and against) fail. |
