God was created from all the accelerated proteins and lightning storms. After he was magically created he spoke english and had a pop tart.
String Theory will prove this soon. :D |

aah, but where did the proteins come from??

exactly!! admit it!! God put them there!!! |
You seemed to have ignored my post about the textbook article.
Regardless, we've already proved the fallaciousness of "argument by design." Even IF you could prove proteins were "designed" (which they aren't), it does not prove that "God" (whatever that is) designed them.
Prove of God by [crappy and unsubstantiated] disproof of evolution = bull.
Proteins form randomly. Just because they are complex does not mean that someone had to create them. If you scoop up a handful of sand on the beach, the probability of you having picked up those exact grains of sand a priori is very nearly zero, but a posteriori is exactly 100%. The point is, all combinations of sand grains were equally unlikely, we just picked one of them.
Forming a protein may be improbable, they do form randomly and we have observed this formation. Plus there is also the issue that protein structure is far more likely to occur than other structures which simply don't "fit" together.
Anti-evolutionism = stupid.
On a totally unrelated note, has anybody seen the episode of Dilbert where they created "Todd"? If so, I hope you all understood the symbolism! :haha: |

sorry to interupt your disscussion, but who the said that bacteria came first???
in tha primorial soup, the 1rst cell basics are COACERVATES (the basic compratments that has some kind of membrane and order)...
where does coacervates come from? r-acids+biopolimers+UV=coac. after coacervats were mature enough to synthesize inherition&division embryos, they were able to develop into eubacteria and archbacteria (both simly known as procaryota)...
this was very easily proven, just take any genetics book and see 4 yourselves! [I did remember my cursed Vytaytas Rancelis "Genetika" book that i had to know by heart when i was studying, glad that's over]:p |

believe what u want! but when the judgement day comes, i'll point at u and laugh!
at the min i believe what i believe, maybe my opinions will change after i do more research, but i dont believe we've al evolved from something. basically i'm saying it had to start from somewhere, whatever we may have evolved from, well that had to come from somewhere etc..
like i said, earlier, let's not argue about it, lets just see what happens when we did. if we meet some guy called pete with big gates outside his driveway, i'm right, if we cease to exist and decompose in a wooden box, ur right.
btw diginut, u dont have much room for the opinions of others. if someone argues (or says something against what u've said) - u tent to call them stupid and refuse to consider that they're right and you're wrong. ur a smart guy, but ffs man we all have a right to our own opinions! |

Dave, that particular post isn't a belief, it's a scientific fact and a logically sound argument. I never made any statements as to whether or not God exists (as I said, I'm agnostic), I merely pointed out that the arguments you and other people were using to prove God's existence were either logically incorrect or downright incoherent.
It's one thing to believe what you want. It's another thing to ignore all facts which point to the contrary and preach on and on to people who know better.
In actual fact, I'm very open-minded and often end up adopting other people's opinions (some people in the political forum have changed my views on America and the Middle East, and believe me that my views on feminism are not the same now as they were a few years ago). However, open-minded or not, it seems that many (or most, but not all) people who post in the chillout room are very poor debaters and have a terrible understanding of common logic.
When people choose to argue intelligently, I always read their arguments, their sources, try to make an informed decision. You're misinterpreting my rationality (as opposed to subjectivity) as stubbornness. It's just that someone saying "I believe" isn't nearly enough to get me to change my own viewpoint, which is generally based on a great deal of science, logic, and personal experience.
Honestly, how many intelligent arguments could you expect from people who spend the greater part of the day posting quasi-nude pictures of supermodels or pop stars? |

Haha, I don't recommend doing that.
Anyway, if you want to believe, I won't stop you. Just don't try to use your own lack of comprehension as an argument ("I don't understand it, therefore it isn't true"). :p |

well, i dont think i'll ever believe we came from no where.. that's just me, a little stubborn and a little afraid to believe that there's no afterlife etc..
although at the end of men and black.. our entire universe was just a marble in a sack of marbles in a different world.. but then again, this just comes back to who created the bag of marbles, and who created the creator of the bag of marbles... bleh! this thread!
well, if i get into heaven and u dont i'll slip st. p. a fiver and see what he can do!
but when u do get in i'm gonna kick ur ass for always arguing with me!! :) |

i didn't read the last page of posts cause i was so eager to post hehehe...
ok...this is what i don't understand and you religious folks clear this up for me...
if you've had some sort of religious experience say like god comes and talks to you...i could see you believing in a god, but if you haven't had that kinda experience...why do you believe?? its quite obvious that religion as we define it in terms of different churchs and you got jews, christians, muslims etc...is a creation of society. the only thing that is so retarded, is that people follow these secs without any real basis for their beliefs. if you have a reason for your beliefs that cool with me, but don't just listen to your sunday school teacher...in other words...everyone needs to be their own messiah and come to their own conclusions about god, and not necessarily believe in the social norms of religion...
ok i'm late for class so that might have sounded bad hehehe...but hopefully the idea got across...
religion is the opiate of the masses ;) |
