why's that?
Singapore airport was heaps easy to pass time in... i just went shopping :) its like a city! |
i went through on a flight from london, and they picked out my wife (chinese born), a south korean guy, and from a huge group of french girls the only chinese girl. It seems to be a policy there, cos i've heard rumours of it happening to others as well. They also either speak terrible english or pretend not to speak it just to piss you off, so it'd be pretty scary of you were on your own.
also, don't forget changi has a timezone inside immigration control, and lounges with every cable tv channel showing. Killing time there was the only time i've ever watched the entirety of an amerian football game. But beware the beer prices. |

| woo hooo. just got handed my ticket out of this place. As much as travelling is going to mean a lot of work (usually 100+ hours/week) i'm really looking forward to getting away from this office. |

packing sux :( esp when ur stressed from dealing with travel agent from hell who screwed everythin up and only picked up tix from sydney 10 mins ago and still has to bring em to me 2nite..........but piece of advice - if u wanna end up gettin 5000 worth of flites for 3000, with the travel agent having to make up the difference out of her own pocket cos of her screw-ups, come to canberra...hehehe
so, now i feel like i have an ulcer, and last thing i feel like doin is leavin everythin that's familiar to me for a year....and my doggy keeps lookin at me with a "please don't go" expression on her face :(
sumbody remind me this is a good opportunity and i should go make the most of it...........cos rite now all i wanna do is curl up in bed and cry

Its always hard to leave something your so used to for a long time, and like cam said, even during the time away there will be points where you get home sick. But you have to think about the situation in the long run, like in 2 or 3 years time looking back on your trip.. I am sure at that point you would laugh at urself for even remotely being upset about leaving, because you are about to go on an experience of a lifetime. Also think how many people just on these forums alone are freakin' jealous of your opportunity - i'm definitly one of them.
Things will ease the longer you spend there, the more places you see and the more people you meet... dont forget to keep us updated on ur mischievous adventures.
Good luck and have an amazing time ! ;) |

| Don't worry Alli, know exactly how you feel right now. Am so upset and stressing out so bad that if I ate right now I am sure I would just throw up. Backpack is packed but so heavy I will have to remove a lot of things. Have said bye to family and doggies and now time to see Dylan and say bye to him too :(. Not at all excited about the trip atm. Fingers crossed the travel agent will actually show up at yoru door tonight with our tix :conf: |

awwww :(
don't worry alli u will be fine...its only natural for u to feel this way as what ur doing is a HUGE step with u being away from ur family and friends for so long - i don't think i could do it! but yeah as the others said there will prob be a lot of times where u will feel home sick but once ur over there i'm sure u will forget all about it and have a blast!!!
and remember u still have a few au.ta's over there to keep ya company for the first month or so and by the time they r gone u will prob be having so much fun u will wonder why u were freakin out about leaving to begin with :) |
