Omg.....cairo is...well, there are no words for it....it's all-consuming, and a complete assault on the senses....it's like being on another planet......it's nothing short of amazing.....

we've only been here a day and a half and we've already had more experiences here in less than 48 hours than we've had in a whole lifetime back home.....to see how differently ppl live, and to be taken into their world when it's so different from ur own - tis just incredible.....everywhere u turn, everywhere u look, there's sumthin different to see.....it never stops - this is a city that lives and breathes every single moment of the day.....it's mind-blowing!!!

being a western woman here is quite an experience - everythin they say is true....we walk down the street, and every guy stares, and makes comments....not in a bad way tho - they're actually really respectful - but as foreign women, we're just so interesting to them...the first half hour we were a lil freaked out by it, but then we learned to relax, and talk to ppl, and show as much interest in them as they do in us...every person has a story to tell, and wants to make u feel as at home here as possible...the egyptians have so much pride in their country - every minute we get a "welkum...welkum"....to be here feels like an honour and a privilege....and to be so interesting to ppl is so much fun!! we met 3 lovely guys yesterday who took it upon themselves to follow us around until we spoke to them, and then they spent the day with us and have really taken us under their wing....and today they came and found us again - so they're showing us everything....hehehe aussie guys could really take a leaf outta their book...they really know how to make females feel so respected and admired - not at all sleazy....it's like we're princesses :) it's hard to explain, but i'll do a better job later in my travel journal :)

we went to the pyramids last nite.....omg.....i really don't have the words for that rite now..... and 2nite we're going sailing on the Nile.....and now we're about to do more wandering in the city with our new-found friends.....they;re waiting for us to finish up here, so i better sign off for now.......more to come later!!

can't believe the journey's only just begun....i've learned and lived so much in only 2 days - i can't imagine what i'll be like after 365.....

take care everyone....we miss u lots *hugz*

Talk 2 a travel agent :p In my experience, I'd suggest an island in Thailand also(Kho Samoui [that's amazing and also has the full moon parties ;)]), Phuket down there is stunning also for something on the mainland.

I'm going to Malaysia trying 2 find a nice island there this year ;)

Thailand is an awesome place to go to for beautiful paradise as well as being dirt cheap. I went there over new years for 7 weeks and it was great. Koh Samui has the half moon parties, and Koh Phangan has the full moon, but theyre only 45 mins boat ride away from each other anyway. The biggest party by far is new years even in koh phangan, went off the richter!

Hey everyone :)

Firstly, to everyone I'm close to - big apology for the lack of emails so far....I've just been doing so much - every waking moment is taken up with a new experience - this place isn't very conducive to sitting in a net cafe - it's the last thing u wanna do here!!

We left Cairo a few days ago and now we're in the most amazing place I've ever been - Dahab, in the North-East of Egypt....omg I can't even begin to describe it....from one side of our hotel u can see the Red Sea (we're literally right on top of it 2 minutes walk away), and the other side are the Sinai Mountains and the desert....it's paradise - the kind of place u always dreamed would exist somewhere but never quite thought could be real...it's so incredibly beautiful, and the lifestyle here is so laid back...and so cheap!! We're eating and living like princesses and we've hardly spent anything - it's mind-blowing how much an Aussie dollar can get u here.... We're really learning what life should be about...it's like this place takes u in, shuts out the rest of the world, and reminds u what it's really like to live.... We've ridden through the desert on horseback, gone diving in the crystal clear waters of the Red Sea, seen incredible mountains and canyons....and met some of the most incredible ppl.....it's really like being on a different planet.... In a few hours I'm leaving to go to Mt Sinai and climb it by moonlight - supposedly we'll see the best sunrise in the world from there....when I get around to it I'll put piccies up :)

hehehe i have totally no idea what's happening out there in the real world...and the weird thing is it doesn't really bother me.....hahaha i don't think i ever wanna leave here....egypt has a piece of my heart now :) :)

time to go sit by the ocea, watch the sunset, and eat an incredible feast for about $10 Aussie.....god i love this place!!!!!

hugz to all...talk soon :)
