Killing them won't bring peace, it won't solve anything. Why won't people realize that. |
so how do you propose fighting terrorism...use harsh language? |

it's going to get ugly, for sure...which is, IMHO, exactly what Isreal wants anyway...then Sharon will have more support to continue with his unilateral land division agenda.
The behind the scenes b.s. makes it hard for any of us to really comment...suffice to say, I'm glad I live here where I don't have to worry about some brainwashed 17-year old suicide bomber or a helicopter launching rockets in the middle of the street  |

| All opinion's aside (including mine) I agree with your second point MarkT. We ARE very lucky to live here and we should not soon forget our fortune and unique climate of succesful multi-culturalism. |

k, well first of all i wanna say that with yasin or without yasin the suicide bombings would have continued anyway. and that threat of "earthquake in israel" is pure bull. sure there would be suicide bombings but its not like theres been any peace and quiet in the region for what? 4 years now? i remember a time where everyday there was a suicide bombing. each and every one of them planned by yasin, so im quite happy hes gone. my only problem with his assasination is the timing. they should have never let him out of prison in the first place. The assasination was definately done to gain support from israelis, the israeli people have long awaited serious retaliation action from the government however nothing but words came out of the governments offices. To the people who ask what can be done i can honestly say NOTHING! nothing will change no matter how much each side compromises. As long as both the palestinians and israelis live side by side there will be bloodshed. There can be no peace since the goal of both sides is to live happily in Israel/Palestine with jerusalem as their capital. and just a bit of history here for you, israeli people used the same methods as the palestinians use today against the british untill they were given the land. no oppression no resistance stopped them, so i doubt anything will stop the palestinians from getting what they want.
i also would like to comment about the "put an israeli and an arab next to each other and i wont be able to tell the difference" that is quite true. i am an israeli, i have plenty of arab friends and even i can't tell the difference. we have identical interests figures of speech and looks. i personaly never tried to let the situation there get to me and neither do most of the people living there. nothing will scare us from going out every night to a club listening to our trance and enjoying our lives, especially since we might die tomorrow. |

Ok...You will probabbly all think I'll be biased because I'm Israeli...and well I'm happy...it had to be done...but I'm not saying anything...just thought I'll post this link (Israel Defence Forces website)

I don't support killing anyone specifically...However, as a first hand witness to what terrorism is I can't help but agree with the decision. :sadgreen: |

Exactly. I also want them dead, but think - won't Palestinians retaliate? Of course they will! No wonder why Middle East won't have peace anythime soon - I feel it for the Israelis, the bus bombings, shootings, but when they continue to assassinate Palestinian & Hamas leaders, what good will that bring to the peace process? |

If this was to prove anything it's that Israelis are not ready to work with the Palestinians for peace, (since it would only lead to further chaos).
Let's not forget what this attack had actually accomplished, It's true that Ahmed Yassin (head of Hamas) was assassinated 'exiting from dawn prayers on his wheelchair' but so were at least seven other people and two of Yassin's sons were among fifteen wounded. To some of you that's just a number, but they are people who lead normal lives as they were leaving dawn prayers...
Celebrating that this elderly was tragically assassinated after a single missile hit leaving nothing but pieces of his wheelchair?
Yet I ponder...
Why did two other missiles fire? |

Retaliatory violence... and this is different from the present violence how?
As has already been said in a similar thread in the political forum... apparently the best way to put a stop to terrorism is to unilaterally surrender to all their demands. Yep, that's the way to go...
Congratulations Israel, try to keep the balls you just grew. |
