I have a theory that human beings were created by the universe to be or to create something that will one day save the universe. We are a catalyst of sorts, hinging on the inevitability of our progress away from the point we are now (as a "disgusting species" on the verge of nuclear annihilation).
So basically, what if we are an immune system response by the universe to fend off some future "illness"?
You should keep in mind that human beings as you know them today have only been 10,000 years in the making, and have only enjoyed the beginning of rough "civilized" technological advancement for 300 years. It's not really fair to judge a species that is still so close to monkeys this harshly; would you beat a dog for not knowing how to piss in the toilet bowl? :D
Give it a million years, or 400 million years like past species had before fallout, and then perhaps you will be glad an asteroid didn't wipe us out. |
wtf are you talking about? humans wont make it untill the end of this century.
when oil and water reach a dangerous level, there will be blood (saw2,hahaha)...allready we had one war for the oil.

& it will take 20 minutes for a psycho crack whore to bust into your house, slit your throat, steel your money, go to their dealer, purchase another hit & then get high. It took 24 years for the psycho crack whore to get where they were in life. Then they OD & die in a gutter. This individual did have offspring & in 23 years they too have offspring of their own. Then in 200 years & 7 generations of the same gene being passed on, a distant relative is sitting in their home when they hear glass break in the back room. He goes to check to see what the sound was; "Oh !!" He says "Nanobot Mega-eaters come to eat my brain!!!". & the Nanobot Mega-eaters eat the guys brain in a total of 6 seconds. The Nanobots then proceed to nanofactory where the nanomother is waiting for genetic information so she can continue with processing & update her nanodatabase. |

that was quite funny:D. you're completely off the point though:D |

Current technological advances are going to make the oil issue a (relatively) moot point. And the funny thing is, Montana is going to become the new Middle East.
And how can water reach a dangerous level? Ever heard of oceans? You do realize there are ways to remove salt from water. |

The evolutionary scale over a few generations should not be overlooked.
Now if a gene is passed down 7 generations to the bloke that gets his brain eaten by nanobots; Where is the evolution in that? Just because nanobots 'exist' it does not mean humans have evolved. Just because automobiles 'exist' does not mean humans have evolved. If there were psycho crack whore today, then Im sure that the same psycho/addictive personality existed 200 years ago.
If someone was productive in their lifetime, then have they were also destructive. It's the age old tail of Human production vs. Environment destruction. A scientist can sit in his/her office for years drawing up schematics designs for the nanobot. This person spends 30 years of their life trying to get the Nanobot Mega-eater working. In this period he scribbles on 50000 bits of paper, 80 percent in which he throws out (That's tree destruction!!). Suddenly the Psycho Crack Whore breaks into the office, slits the scientists throat & makes off with the money that is sitting in the scientists draws. Yes the Nanobot Mega-eater may now exist, but where is the evolution in that??? |

much better. now i see what you're saying:) and you are just reaffirming my words: there is no evolution in the current state of human species. the problem in this is the very reason we became so advanced: knowledge sharing. the psychocrack would never slit anyone's thorat because she would have no intelligence to manufacture a knife, for example. but then the internal combustion engine that powered the automobile would never be invented because i doubt anyone would be able to design and produce such a thing from scratch based entirely on own's personal experience.
the same methods that allow people to learn how to tell with a high degree of accuracy the chemical composition of a star lying hundreds of millions of light years away, allow other people to learn that the knife kills a person, the money buy drugs, etc, etc. while 10% of the population (i believe the number to be even much less) makes leaps in progress of our civilization, the rest degrades it with great systematic repetition.
there is no way, of course, to resolve this paradox (i doubt killing 90% of the population is an option:D). all we have to do is sit around, wait and hope for the best. |

what technological advances?
alternative power sources? (i dont see any in use) or nuclear energy? (hello chernobyl)
as for the water, click here
we are wasteful and sometime water WILL reach a dangerous level.
do we really need to push the flusher till the end after a leak?
sea water into drinking water? i dont know whats more expensive, oil or this?
they maked war for oil (we can live without oil), imagine what they'll do for water.
maybe my examples are wrong, but you really think man kind will make it for another 10000 years? |

indeed. desalinization plants + ocean = drinkable water...
if it werent for the greedy and completely stupid s that move to the desert *cough* Phoenix, AZ *cough*
anyone stupid enough to move to that city or any other city in the middle of the desert and then complain about lack of water is stupid. the poeple of phoenix wanna tap the great resource that us midwesterners have, the Great Lakes. The colorado river is nearly dry and instead of using their brains, they ask for more water while every person waters their lawn to make it nice and green, builds man-made lakes sorrounding lush green golf courses. arrogant s. sad thing is, the city is growing, and instead of using intelligent measures to 'recycle' the water they use, they just throw it away and ask for more. that pisses me off |

lol, are u kidding or being stupid? it goes a little deeper than whales. You may not know it but there's a whole complex ecosystem out there that's slowly deteriorating because certain species are close to extinction, and species that depend on those will start dying off too. It's only a matter of time before the planet can't sustain itself and we're in a load of trouble.

Nobody here said they want "the world to end", but you should definately take some time away from blowing your load on a girls face and realize that this world will end if we, as humans, keep living the way we are.

on a sad note, humans are defying the evolutionary path and path of nature, which leads to more and more problems in our species. take medicine for example. it stops the evolution from taking its necessary toll by letting people who would otherwise die because of their insuitability to life on earth (genetic diseases) carry on the genetic imprint to their children. our species becomes less and less able to fight the nature's way by the very mechanisms that essentialy made us a superior race. |
But then I guess you could say nature is evolving around us. Every year, newer, stronger bacteria come into the playing field, with immunities to our medicine. And worst of all, they possess the ability to transfer immunities onto eachother. Imagine just ONE bacteria that's immune to all of our current anti-biotics comes into contact with certain strains of the cold virus, and they exchange immunities...in a way, we're engineering our own demise.

That's a lazy way out of it. I think it's better if we actually recognize the problem and try to change it. If there's one thing humans are best at, is change and adaptation. Sitting around hoping for something good to happen doesn't help. |
