In order for something to matter, there has to be someone for it to matter to. If everyone dies off it doesn't matter, since there's no one left for it to matter to.

Well there are actually developments in turning coal and other resources into sources of fuels without the side effects of petroleums. Also, have you ever heard of fuel cells? Granted, they're a ways off, but still. Oh, and hybrid automobiles? How about synthesizing plastics in plants - I bet you didn't know about that one either.

Its unfortunate the process to get pure hydrogen pollutes more than gas/oil right now..:(

There is another alternative that the Canadians have come up with and that is using ethanol from corn. Nobody is promoting it though and Canadians are not embracing this technology that fast. If you click the link below and scroll down to the clip titled "Kernel Knowledge", you'll see what I mean. They explain what I'm saying in a funny way:

yeah seen it, too bad no one is using it.. biodiesel has been around a while now tho..
