sucks, I'm getting into this thread late. I haven't read any above replies yet.

What disappointed me the most was that Bush won by 3 million popular votes. That no more young voters voted in this race than in 2000. That only about 50% (as usual) of all eligible voters voted. And that 11 states voted against gay marriage.

Now it's not even all Bush's fault. It's the American peoples'. I am very discouraged and kind of lost. I don't know what to say.

4 million of the bush voters were christian evangelicals that did not vote in 2000

Im kinda surprised with this as well, but not really because all the states that were given these polls were all conservative to begin with.

Yes, this was one of my points while I was talking to my friends today. Evangelical Christians came out and voted ardently, and mostly for the ethical and moral issues... most of the Midwest and the South are so detached from the rest of the world that they vote on whoever looks most like he's "one of them." They don't know much about terrorist attacks -- except by fellow Americans. They see their religion, their town, and perhaps their state. Not the interdependent world we live in. I fear these people and their cult religion.

Flame away.

yay! i can't wait for a 13 year old to get raped, and is stuck raising the baby since Bush is stuck in the 1700s. oh, and i'm also excited for hundreds more solidiers to die in iraq...the draft sounds like fun too. and anyone who voted Bush and are friends with a gay person- have fun telling them you think they are a second class citizen and don't deserve the rights you have.

gonna be a great next 4 years!

ppl have to get brave and dont let fear themselves anymore from the state thru the media. cauze i think thats they main problem, that ur whole country lives in a kinda fear 365days a year... :nervous: :(

i feel VERY sorry for the few guys over there that are still able to think "right"....

PS: but one good thing comes with it, the election now totally inspired me to design one really mean anti bush shirt :disbelief

One other thing that helped me secure a vote for Bush was the fact that he is pro-israel.

Where did you see statistics on young voters? I really thought more young voters would have voted considering all of the different groups that were really trying to motivate them/

Very dissapointing.

Shows how much young people truely care, doesnt matter who they would have voted for, but its just the fact of getting out there and voicing your opinion. I can guarantee you that they had opinions and talked about it with their friends, but when it came time to going to their polling place they got lazy and careless and figured their vote wont make a difference. This country seriously needs to get out of that phase. Those 3 million more voters that Diddy was trying to get could have changed the outcome of this election.

how is it whining? we are stating our opinions about the election. it's people like you that discourage people's voices from being heard.
Miss Bliss
Yes, if the young voters had turned out there definitely would have been much more of a chance for Kerry. All of my college friends voted. Then again, I go to NYU, where political involvement is often a mandate. :p
