Well i don't believe there is a world where everybody loves each other (at least not without chip implants) and there is no war, what we're talking about is necessity ie. is the war in iraq necessary, to that end I would have to ask that about every war, if i frame this conversation in terms of people dying, its never necessary. There is more to war than people dying, and to be honest the outcome will either vindicate the war effort or reveal its flaws. Thats why i think its premature to judge.

Civil unions are just a half assed way for moderate to have their cake and eat it too. You can't have it both ways.
If you look at the liberal point of view, civil unions are pretty much a slap in the face for gay couples. What it's saying is that their union is nothing more than a business deal. They're pretty much slapped on with a second class status because they're not a heterosexual couple. It may be in the step in their ultimate goal, but I know they won't (and shouldn't) settle for just civil unions
If you look at the social conservative point of view, civil unions are pretty much marriage disguised as another name. So no way in hell are they for it.
you're either for gay marriage or against gay marriage. You can't have it both ways

First off i'm not your "son", daughter..
Secondly, if you pay then obviously it doesn't affect me, using your elitist bs attitude with me won't work, i will debate facts with you, but don't try stuffing words in my mouth, if you read what i posted i said, as long as the government doesn't pay for it(aka my tax dollars), if you pay for your own abortion so be it, but don't sit here telling me about troops dying needlessly in iraq, quite the paradox if you ask me.
I'm still trying to understand where the 1800 reference comes in, income tax wasn't around in the 1800's, it was brought into being in the beginning of the 20th century at about 2% effective rate and was meant to be temporary...so much for that...maybe you mean my thought process is one that someone from the 1800's would have, but that doesn't make much sense either seeing that in the 1800's you would have to pay for your own abortion if you could even find a place that would do it.

A draft? where do you get your info, the only resolutions in congress for a draft were proposed by democrats, and they were soundly defeated last month, a president cannot just impose a draft without congressional approval.
