Technically the ref did nothing wrong.
However, 'precedents' or 'tradition' of the game says that players wait for whistle before taking the freekick.
Normally the defending team is allowed time to set their wall and set piece defence. |

maybe so but the reality stays that the goal was within the rules of the game and hopefully the authorities will reject Lille's claims for the goal to be disallowed.
And besides that odemwingie character got karma when he had his goal disallowed , payback for waving the yellow card to the ref to book vidic ... thats another matter that needs to be taken strict action against |

I got a chance to visit Old Trafford this past Saturday. It's a very nice stadium, filled to the gills for the match against Bolton. I had a great view of Rooney's 2nd goal.
I'll post pics later today. |
